Are these HKS cams defective

They should still be good, but if you bought them new and they looked like that i would probably contact whoever you bought them off and exchange them.....

Nope they were used. I would of called them as soon as i seen dirt on them. Thanks

Thats perfect still if your talking about the marks on the shaft, the lobes show some slight usage thought but nothing bad.

Yeah they were only used less then 5000miles. I didn't think they would look like that. They look good though and only the exhaust cam had those marks, compared to my stock cams. Appreciate it.

Hey if you are that worried about them you can polish them up with a buffing wheel like I did, ahhhh nice and new.

Why did you polish the lobes? A roller follower doesn't wear the lobe much at all nor does it require reseating or a new surface.
