Are these cams usable?

I bought these from a person off here. Blah blah. Took me 5 weeks and a PayPal dispute to get them. Now they look like this. Can I even use these? The marks on the cams are not deep. You can barely if at all feel them with your finger tip. Thanks!

Take a scotch brite pad and some oil or something similar and very lightly go over them. If its goes away then your ok. If not, they might have to be reground or thrown away.

id take them to a machine shop and have mirco polish them

Thats what you do man. Just lightly go over them. It doesnt scratch them, just takes the rust out. Are they aftermarket cams?

If it can get caught on your finger nail, you're most likely boned. It's not like a crank where you can cut/grind it and get bigger bearings.

Delta Camshaft

Give them a call, see what they can do. You may be able to get yourself some 262 or 272's for nearly the price you would have paid to just have that spot ground down.

The lobes dont look too bad, but the area on the cam between the caps and head look kinda shitty. The worse thing is if you try to smooth them out using my idea, is it doesnt work and you gotta get new ones and file another dispute on paypal.

Thanks. I'll give them a call. Didn't even know they existed. LOL PayPal wont guarantee item condition unless its through eBay. So I got pooped on. What happens if I run them like this. Just curious. Thanks again. I should've just bought regrinds in the first place I guess.

Edit: They are BC 272's

go to a hardware store go steel lane and pick up super fine sand paper im talking 2000-6000 grit and these can be salvaged if done right and also pick up steel polish and they well look bran new with some dremal and hand grease

Bloomfield is only about 8 to 10 miles away.

Take some emery cloth to them and get them as smooth as possible. As long as theres no DEEP scores in it after working your magic on them, it shouldnt scuff up the cam journals in the head. Id be pretty upset, but ive seen worse looking ones come out of heads and had no ill effects on anything.
