So got my first dsm, got a 92 talon tsi awd yesterday. So far so good. But yesterday when trying to figure out this apexi s-afc thing I was just playing around with it :ohdamn: and the check engine light came on.

But I have googled and searched on here and read the manual on the apexi website but dont really understand how to use it quite yet. COuld somebody point me in the right direction? The guy I bought it from had it all on the original settings the reason I was messing with it cause on the way home I was in cruise control at 70mph but my RPMs were at 4500 and was killing my gas and RPMs that high didnt seem normal.

Here is what is all done on my car.
Brand new 4g63 motor with 1000 miles on it
All the ac components are gone
bored .20 with forged pistons
REmoved Balance shaft
EGR has been removed
All the unnecessary vacuum lines have been removed
Brand new TDO5H small 16g turbo and turbular stainless exhaust manifold
New bosh 02 sensor
new magnecor plug wires and billet spark plug cover
New mishimoto aluminum radiator with ralliart 1.3 cap and billet oil cap
black hallman HBC pro boost controller
gutted cat and 3 inch exhuast
All the hoses are a blue silicon
has a new gauge pod with new autometer phantom boost
K and N air filter with dejon chrome intake
Eibach ground contol coilovers with adjustable kyb shocks
Freddy type S BOV

Thanks : )

With the SAFC, you'll need something to log before you start playing with it as you need to see what your changes are doing to your engine. A palm logger would work on a 1992 (you can find a lot of used ones on the classifieds here). You'll also need a wideband gauge/sensor to read off during the tune. Again, that one is used in part for logging.

Read this, it'll give you a bit of an overview of how and why we use it: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-tuning-ecu/366004-safc-tuning-how-why.html

Did you pull codes to see what the check engine light is all about?

Ok so after doing ALOT of research online I learned that my Apexi S-AFC 2 was set wrong.

The sensor type was wrong. I never messed around with this part so I am assuming the guy before me set it this way but it was set to "Pressure" and as soon as I set it to "Karman" it began to idle SO much better and the check engine light went off.

The car is doing alot better now acceleration is better to.

Does anyone know how much damage could have been cause buy having it on the pressure part? I drove the car around for about 50 miles with the check engine light on because I had to go home. Who knows how long it has been on that setting though. I hope it couldnt cause to much damage. What do you guys think?
