Hey, would anyone happen to have an installation guide for an Apexi N1 Downpipe for a 2nd Gen GST? I don't really wanna fork out the 100 bucks to have someone put it on if I don't have to, especially if I can find one for cheap on eBay! Thanks! :thumb:

your serious?

well its pretty simple jack your car up, unbolt from the o2 house unbolt from the block unbolt from the cat unless you get a car eliminateing dp then upbolt the cat from the catback. and install is in reverse order..

yep. It really is that simple. (I have one on my car) :thumb:

Well I figured I might as well ask, I had a feeling it was a pretty simple, but it never hurts to ask. Thanks for the quick reply!

Yeah it's pretty simple. One nice thing about the Apexi downpipes is that they actually have the support tab to mount to the block lilke the stock pipe.

What catback are you using? It will not work with all catbacks. You may have to modify the intermediate pipe.

Someone can correct me if they have thermal exhaust, but I think you will need to shorten it. You'll see when you hang it in there. Also if your exhaust is 3", the Apexi is not. Starts out 2.5 and goes up too about 2.75.

I have a Thermal R&D catback exhaust system.

You will have to cut approximately (take it to a shop with the downpipe to get the exact dimensions) the last 3.5 inches off end of the Thermal catback to accomodate an Apexi downpipe. This is a good thing anyway as the thermal 3" catbacks reduce to the stock diameter at the end to bolt up to the cat. I have a Greddy EVO which has the reducing adapter like the Apexi catback so I didn't need any modifications.

The downpipe I have is 3" after the flex section. It's an Apex'i N1 cat eliminator.

I bought the Apexi GT downpipe and the flange wasn't the same as my cat. The DP had a 2 hole flange and the Thermal exhaust had 3. Just wondering if that happened to anyone else.

Well my 95 TSI is all stock right now and i wanted to get one of those Apexi N1 Downpipes but don't they come 3"?

i have a thermal 3 inch on my gs-t and its a 2 bolt conection between the dp and the cat-back just my 2 cents

you guys are getting things mixed up here. an apexi dp will only fit an apexi or rsr exhaust without any modification. all apexi downpipes eliminate the cat and they are also all 3in but go to 2.5 by the o2 housing which is unavoidable without an o2 eliminator dp.

if you want a direct bolt on i would suggest looking into a different brand. if you want the best performance then i would say go with it and get the thermal cat-back flange modified so it will bolt up then you will have a true 3in turbo back.

So what you're sayin' is that I would probably be better off in the long run, performance speaking, to stick with the Apexi downpipe and just gettin' it modified to fit my Thermal Exhaust...correct? I'm not the most mechanically savvy guy, so I may take it down to an import shop in Indy to have them do it. They mentioned having to weld somethin' when I called them, so I might have to fork out the money to have them work on it.

You get the Thermal exhaust modified to fit the Apexi downpipe. It will be easy for a shop to do.

Greddy EVO's also bolt up directly to the Apexi downpipes. :D

Thanks for all the help guys, I went to a local muffler shop today and they hooked me up in about an hour! Still sounds really nice, a little different than what it was with just the exhaust, but still nice and deep! :thumb:

Well I have a TSI FWD and I wanted to get the apexi as well. Does it really matter if you get 2.5 or 3 inch? Also where is the cheapest place to get an apexi N1 downpipe?

Hi All,

Currently running a VRS 2.5 downpipe joined to a removeable 2.5 test pipe setup that replaces the cat.

Would the APEXi setup, staying at 2.5, being one-piece and all, result in any improvement at all to exhaust flow?

Thanks.
