my exhaust has separated on me twice now while driving (pretty embarrassing) and i was thinking of having it welded, Ive already tried installing clamps and it didnt work. Anything wrong with my idea? Just needed a few opinions before i go do it

it is an RNR 3" exhaust for those who are wondering, i think one of the joints was expanded a little too large causing a loose fit :|

as long as you have a short flex tube in place, it's 100% fine. The motor only moves 1-1.5" if you have good mounts

You can weld it if you wish... I did (I have the same exhaust) Napa sells some exhaust pipe slip fit gunk that will help.

You're FWD... I bet it seperates after you get some wheelhop. ;)

I would tell you to weld it as well, unless you plan on using a test pipe. If not, weld away.

If you ever have to take it off then good luck once it is welded. I have the same exhaust and I just bought 2 T bolt clamps and I dont have any leaks at all. It has never seperated and I can easily take it apart for maintenance or just becasue. If you weld it take it to a shop and have them put in some flanges for a few bucks.

Alot of the locals with slip-fit exhausts have been getting these wide exhaust clamps from napa that are working great for them.

3 inch stainless steel band clamps. It will never leak or give you problems again. Torque them to 60 ft/lbs. 18 wheeler stores sell them about 8 bucks a piece. I made a removeable test pipe with mine :D

dont really have any leaks, the slip fit joint just keeps twisting around by itself until it eventually separates... i guess thats when there is a leak then

That's nice & pretty looking. I just used a U-bolt style one.
