looking to see if any goes rally crossing in there DSMs. A few friends of mine are big into and im thinking attending a few events this year. My car is my DD so im not going crazy, and the AWD classes in something that requires some good cash to be competitive in.

but looking to see if anyone is into this sport at all and could give me some advice.

We have a few rallycross guys here. You can find some good information by searching, here's a thread to start:

I'm not sure I agree with the budget problem, a set of 15" wheels and some REAL rally tires will make a big difference, some AGX or equiv. adjustable struts, and some mud flaps will let you have a good time without too much money.
Other items that are nice is a front skidplate, a better seatbelt, and a good camera mount so we can see all the action :D :D .
I regularly use my white 1g for open/fast sweep at real stage rallies, only problem I've had is my exhaust hangs a little low being 4", so I worked the manifold loose. Fixed that by adding the block support to the doownpipe.
I also prep and maintain the boss's PGT prepped GVR-4, never DNF'd a rally yet, the car weighs almost 4100 pounds, but it never breaks and we drive the wheels off it.

In my opinion, the most gains are from adjustment of the nut behind the wheel :). Driver skill makes more difference than any other mod.

after looking into it, i think ill leave my 2g alone and get a 1g for such a purpose. I sold one of my rx7s, so some of the funds will go to the purchese of a AWD 1g. This way, i can get more involved, and ill drive better knowing i wont have to worry about trashing my daily driver.

well i got my 1g Talon AWD yesterday! No motor or transmission, but its a clean clear and the price was good. found a good motor at a local junkyard for 400. Have a few transmissions lined up.

once i get it running, ill start the fun process of getting it a little prepped.

Awesome! Let's see progress of a rally build, you're in prime position to do it.

And this should go without saying, but ... PICS AND VIDS. Please. :thumb:

ill get pics of the car by friday. Currently tracking down a transmission and transfer case of which i have possiblites and hopefully one of them will play out. Found a motor but i want to get the transmission first (because of 30 day start up garuntee).

Once its in running condition, and ive looked over the car, ill start replacing the worn out suspension components.

THEN the fun can start.

Pictures of the car.
