Is there anyone who is using the wiseco pistons with stock bore????

I just saw they are available in stock bore and wondering if anyone has done this ?

the reason I ask is my block doesnt have very high miles and the cylinder walls look really good....

let me know your opinions...

I've used Wiseco's in the stock bore, you just need to get a dial bore gauge, or find somebody that has one, and check the cylinders. Make sure they check them for taper, as well as out of round. You'll also need to hone the cylinders so keep that in mind when measuring.

I would take it to a shop and do a proper hone job on it. You might need to take out more material than you can take out with a hand hone in order to get up to wiseco's recommended clearance specs of .0035". Plus it might come out better.

In my experience though, there's no such thing as a straight cylinder :) I've had two professional jobs done with a torque plate, and both were around .001" tapered/out of round when assembled. God knows what it looks like when it's running at 8000rpm and 30 pounds of boost... You can probably do just as well at home with a hand hone, provided you can get to the right clearance.

Look on ebay for a cheap and decent dial bore gauge. A 0-4" micrometer set would also be good, although you can get by with .0005" accurate calipers. Measure the piston at the recommended spot with the mic/calipers, lock the mic at that size, measure it with the dial bore gauge, and compare it to the cylinder bore readings. There's your piston to wall clearance.
