anyone put in a sunroof???

The glass gets removed and instald (R and I). If car didn't have a factory sun roof then it wont have the lipformed in the roof skin.

I think I understand... The roof skin needs to have a "molded depression" around the edge of where the sunroof glass mount goes, for the proper fitting of the glas when closed?
If that is correct then we are not simply talking about cutting a rounded edge hole in the roof, placing the trim moulding in that and then mounting the glass & rails on the brace?

By the by, NWHTank, thank you for taking your time and sharing this information with me. I do appreciate it.

## getting closer. The factory dsnt have a moulding on the roof. The weather strip is on the sun roof glass. The lip on the roof skin gives it support. With out out it no seal,it would be flimbsy. And u could cut your self since it is just thin sheet metal if you stuck your hand out out it.

My interior is tan ( I am giving the color for a reason).
I have to pull out my current head liner. The stock kit I have on standby comes with a head liner (tan) with a big hole (where the sunroof glass goes). A smaller hole (Where the sunroof swtich goes). I have a tan moulding trim (covers the thin metal sheet that could cut me, as described above). Brass looking metal frame that holds the motor and rails for the glass. The Glass portion with a black rubber moulding around it. I have no hoses for drainage, and no head liner pull to close the light coming into the sunroof.

Besides the head liner pull cover and drainage hoses am I missing anything else?
Is there an added piece of support metal that goes around the lip section that is covered by the tan moulding that protects me from being hurt by the thin metal roof skin?

I will take pics when I get home tonight

That would probably make it easier for me to understand. Sorry, about that.
Again thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

Respectfully.

This one, is of the bracing . It is welded and glued to roof skin. Also u can see where the bracing bolts to the upper roof rails for additional support. The gold nuts attach it

NWHTank, Thank you, this clears up alot of questions I have. I will not be able to complete this until spring/summer because of the car being out of commision for the extended amount of time.

Has anyone removed the glass on the moonroof and replaced it with carbon fiber? I heard this idea a few days ago and thought that would like sick. Expensive, but sick.

Keep us updated so i can see how hard it will be. I'm wanting to put a 2g one in my 1g as soon as weather warms up Ill be heading to a junk yard. Also is the 2g's roof more curved than the 1g if so that will complicate things.
