So, I have been looking/reading into running e85, what is recommended, and what is required. I have a couple, well... a lot, of things to take care of before I worry about fuel. However, I came across a map converter so to speak on E85 Conversion Kits Change2E85.com There also seems to be a couple different versions of this just under different names.

Has anyone heard of this, tried this on their DSM, or other vehicle? I can't find concrete evidence, or reviews if it actually works. Apparently, it seems straight forward. You plug a harness into the fuel rail, then the fuel injectors into that harness, and the harness feeds into a computer. The computer is then supposed to read the ECU and adjust accordingly. It says you can basically run e85, pump gas, or the combination of both without any other modifications whatsoever.

I know that people running Evo ecu's can do this. Have not heard of this done with a 2g, H8 or 1g ECU's yet.

OP, first off there are two main e85 threads on here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/59040-alternative-fuel-e85-ethanol-corn-gas-e70-beginner-merged.html

Read over ALL of this and try to weed out some of the info people that from don't have first hand experiences most of that has been cleaned up though. There's a link in there for the advanced discussion as well... .

But back to the point,

That "kit" is a waste of money... And a scam pretty much. Ethanol has a lower BTU and requires roughly 30% more fuel depending on the mix in the real world to make up for the loss in energy. BUT, that is part of the benefits as your burning more fuel and have a cooler fuel mix because of that... . so swap a stock car to E85 on stock injectors that would be maxed out on gas and you will have serious problems.

For that price the're quite a few REAL tuning solitions that you could pick up to make the car run on either Gas OR E85...

But as 1gAWDlaser said the EVO ecu at the moment is the only Ems that would easily work for a DSM for most people with out going to a full stand alone and could be setup to make your car run as "True" flex fuel car to run any mix between as there are ROM's that suport using a GM Flex Fuel Sensor and interpolating between a gas map and ethanol map... .
