1G Anyone ever use a obd1 adapter

Has anyone out their used a obd1 12 pin to 16 pin obd2 adapter? I have the obd2 scan tool and was wondering if anyone has used the adapter in their 1g and if it works properly. Attached is the adapter I'm thinking about buying. Thanks

I wonder how that works. The protocols are quite different so either the scan tool knows how to talk booth or the adapter is smart, cause I know the ECU isn't smart enough to speak ODB2.
