I bought this car and it was already lowered..seems about 2 inches.. But there is some shimmy oralmost shaking in the front end during acceleration. I know it is not the engine because I had to do a head job on the car cuz the guy F-ed me on this car.

Midas said that it is because it is lowered and the cv axels are binding under load and to fix it...it need to be brought back up to stock height?

ANybody ever have any problems like this??

Thanks

i had the same problem but my alignment was off in the front of the car. u think he got it alignment on the car after lowering it? unless u have a bent rim. but usually when u lower ## can ## camber and toe gets of track.

So your car was shaking under acceleration? OR all the time?
On the freeway it does vibrate alittle but under acceleration it gets worse like will acutally shake. Has anyone had problems with the cv axels? I could not find anything on the search.

So you think I need an alignment and to have the camber adjusted?

I don't know if he had an alignment or not...motor mounts are in bad shape also but I dont think it would cause this.

yeah my car used to shake when i accelerate. check ## tire and see how its wearing out also it could be ## motor mount it all depends how bad they are.

I had this weird kinda low speed vibration, almost a wobble when turning right say onto another street and accelerating in 2nd gear out of boost.
Figured I had a bad CV, and it only happens right after turning right.

Now, I just lowered my car with Tein Type Flex's and I got it aligned.
The front camber is at -1.2 left and -1.5 right.
I will be installing new adjustable ball joints to bring the front camber back into spec this weekend. I'll also be replacing my both lower front control arms.

The driver's side axle assy is a new Mitsu axle, but I'm willing to bet it's a well worn passenger side outer CV joint that has 108k stock height miles on it, and now that it's lowered, it's having to wear in a different manner and this is causing my freeway speed acceleration vibrations just like you guys are talking about.

I have exactly the same problem in my 93 7g Galant (im in Australia) BUT these have identical suspension to a 2G eclipse, Im running the Twin Turbo V6, but only front wheel drive, But after lowering the car, it shudders/viabrates/wobbles under load. Same thing happened wth my previous Galant as well.

So far I can only put it down to the hight of the car, raise it up, it gets better, the lower, the worse it gets, one guy that had the same problem here was told its becaise of the negative camber induced when you lower these cars.

So Far I have also re-enforced my upper arms by welding another plate to the bottom of the arms, tried different tyres, different suspension hights, checked the play in the drive shafts, no problems there.

I am about to make up a camber kit to throw in the front, hopefully with some good results... Fingers crossed. Im supprised this isnt a well known problem in the 2G eclipse world?!

Like others have said, it's possible that you need an alignment done and if the previous owner didn't have the camber and toe adjusted then there'll be faster wear on the inside of the tire.

when I first got my car, when accelerating, I felt a lot of "wheel hop" or loss of traction.. that may be the problem I just put new mounts on mine and it was told to me that it should do the job. I not to sure about the lowered affect of it or not.

I just lowered my car. handles and drives 10x smoother. Had it aligned and it feels like butter :) If you get what im saying.

Bent rim, alignment off, broken motor mount, rim off balance, etc. Could be alot of different things.

Mine does the same thing since I lowered it. I lowered onto eibach sportlines and koni reds and soon as it went down it started this shaking at around 20 mph.
I was on stock rims and tires and after the alightment still continued.
I changed rims and tires, brand new, new control arms, new tie rod ends and motor mounts. Still the issue remains. From what I have researched on this is it most likely the cv axel assembly. My issue feels like its on the passenger side where the axle is shorter and under more pressure. Reading some forums on our cars and multiple others, seems many axles are crap out of the box, with many people changing them up to 8 times to find one that's true. Im up to 4. Crossing my finger on this next one.
