Damn Nito, sucks about the talon man... ####ing people sometimes man.

About the switch, went to Ecology a few days ago and saw i think 3-4 one g's that still had interior. Dont remember quite well if they had switches or not but i might be going back today in a few or tomorrow, let me know if you want me to pick it up for you or ask on a price.

Well, the 20th of August was the date RRE had me penciled in to go up on the dyno for the 3rd time. After a disappointing trip up there in April because of a lifting head I had been getting the car ready this time making sure I didn't miss anything.
The 20th rolled around and the DSM drove up to Miramar just fine, no hiccups nothing funny. But I swear that car hears RRE and it pisses itself, for whatever reason it DOES NOT like going up there because it knows we're about to beat on it. I jumped in my car to grab some lunch a few blocks from where I work on base and after I parked the car it starts free reving. I noticed my battery voltage was low (9 volts) but the battery and the e-brake light were still off so I didn't suspect alternator problems, especially since I replaced it just a two months ago. I went through my log I did on the way into work that morning and watched my battery voltage before I jumped to any conclusions and sure enough, it started at 13 volts when I left for work and was logging low 10's toward the end of the log. Damn car. Kris picked me up and drove me to Autozone and we grabbed a new alternator, installed it, then drove up to RRE anyway just a few hours behind schedule.

Got the car on the dyno around 10:00 and it did 350 awhp, 330 tq off the street tune I had on it on 21psi. Sam worked his magic without playing with boost and had it to 360, 335 I believe just getting everything lined up where it needed to be to turn up the boost and switched over to Speed Density. Turned the boost up to 26psi and the car did 415, 370 easy and I was pumped!

Before the car came off the dyno Sam got it to 440 awhp, 390 ft-lbs. tq running 29psi. Whens the next Qualcomm?!? LOL

on the 3rd and you better bring your radials or else you aint got nothing on me hahah

Okay I am having my first real downtime ever. My Talon now threw a rod through the oil pan doing a 3rd gear pull. My brother said I can have that JDM 6 bolt that is in the garage. But at this point I am aprehensive about going fast on a 4g63. Thinking of doing a Longblock 6 bolt swap or doing a 6 bolt shortblock with 2g head. Anyone have input onto what is the best option? How much power can a stock 6 bolt handle? I am also thinking maybe its time to move on.

Oh yea, I've got four of those laying in my closet! How much will you pay?

:dsm:
Yo Corey! Do you still have these on hand? Just to confirm, this is the Tactrix Openport 2.0 w/ Mitsubishi reflash adapter, correct? I will be flash-tuning a '99 VR-4 in L.A. soon and was about to order one online.

BTW, congratulations on the new numbers. Good luck at RL.

One of the dudes I work with bought a 2008 Audi RS4 and everyday talked about my shitty 4 cylinder and how he was going to whoop up on it at racelegal. Last night I decided it was finally time to hand him his ass as well as see what my setup was doing at the stadium parking lot 1/8th mile. Well, needless to say I killed his $50k Audi and got a new personal best time and trap speed for racelegal.

8.03 at 93mph. Time for drag radials or QTP's since I was spinning all four tires through first and halfway through second... LOL I'd like to thank my pit crew, Kris and Gracie, for keeping my car running the entire night. I probably would have figured out the fuel pump wiring issues without ya buddy but its just so much more entertaining when your along...

:dsm:

Does anyone have a performance clutch disc(act...) laying around
i need one for my galant vr4 one of the srings broke on the sprung hub

Thanks

How bad did you get em? Those things are 420HP V8s. Weight would be the factor too. Those things must weigh maybe 500lbs more than our dsms due to all the luxury theyre strapped with. Needless to say nice kill/time corey.

oh 8.03 ? 7s arent so far away ! I think that would put your 2g to be the first to break into the 7s here at the local parkinglot. Very nice, you are beating me to it.

Sorry i didnt check this sooner everyone does tell me 6 bolts hold up pretty well and is proven but rigo hooked it up with the 1g 7 bolt that should hold.

I am in the process of piecing ithe engine back together. Yesterday I cut the 2g mount to fit the water pump etc and had already set the timing for it. But As I look at the cams i see there is a small gap between two of the cam lobes and rocker arms. uh OH ! I pulled on the lifters and they seemed to be collapsed.

So this morning I proceed to remove the timing belt and intake cam and take off the lifters. I see that the lifter furthest away from the cam gear has a slightly bigger oil port at the top (middle lifter pictured), while the rest had a smaller port (Leftmost lifter pictured). I also went ahead and took off the lifters that were on my 7 bolt (97 talon tsi awd) and pictured them (rightmost lifter with big oil hole at the top). I was wondering if the lifters I had on my car could be used in the 1g head although they appear to be a tad bit shorter than the other two types.

Anyone know if the lifters off my 1997 7-bolt head will work fine on the 1g head I have?
It is almost seems as if the lifters on my talon had been replaced with 3g lifters by the previous owner but not sure on that. Anyone have experience or input?

Thanks for the encouragement on the 1/8th mile times, the cars trap speed is a mid 7 sec ET if I can get traction coming out of the hole.

Run your 7 bolt lifters they'll work just fine, if you need more I have boxes of lifters even some from a 6 bolt if you'd like? Just make sure you use a paperclip on them and relieve the oil pressure on the lash adjusters. I have no idea what that monster lash adjuster is out of but it doesn't look like anything I've ever seen, maybe someone else on here can post up what it is.

Lets all say a short DSM prayer for Alex's slow pink/red GSX, the rear diff seized up in Pacific Beach today. Alex is fine and didn't hit anything but we're praying for the cars speedy recovery (hopefully the car recovers faster than it can go down a track).

:tease: From what it sounds like the GSX got scared when it saw 10psi.

bless his little heart. I guess rigo is going to have to do the loaner thing some more. I think the car more broke its own leg you know like how an animal will chew off its own paw to get free.

LOL

Did you get my note on the back of your 1g? I pulled my phone apart and fixed the charging issue after I got home today. I had it on a charger all day Sunday trying to charge it and it never did go above 0%, its good to go now though. :applause: I got a few texts from you, call if you want man.

:dsm:

thanks for the tip. The 2g lifters seemed like they were solid untill they were bled from their oil using a really thin allen wrench since I didn't want to trust a paperclip. It took all morning to do all 16 of them along with cleaning and installing the cams.
Now its time to do the timing belt and start installing all the accessories to get it ready to drop in.

I never heard of a differential seizing up in our cars. Maybe we should all check the fluid level on our drivetrain parts. Before taking off my transfer case I went to drain the fuild out of it and nothing came out! uh oh! The more the memory of my engine blowing it replays the more I want to make sure everything is functioning properly.

LOL

yeah I got it. I thought you just no longer wanted to talk to me. my feelings were hurt:sosad: but you must have came by when me and rande were at target as i was home all day the rest of the day.

Dicks!!!! So I don't check this for a couple of days and you guys start talking shit hahah
So yeah changed out the transfer case yesterday and car is back up and running boosting 14psi not 10. And yeah when drained the old transfer case almost no fluid came out even though I had filled it up not even 2 months ago when I first started up the car.

Hey Rigo is gonna stop by tomorrow and yank some vaccum lines off of your car so i can use on mine okay? just letting you know LOL

so, what happened on the first sunday? meet up?

just curious, but does anyone have a spare door actuator for the lock, as well as the the door sensor switch? both of em are bad on my drivers side door... just found this out about an hour ago when i had my alarm installed...grr

also, what kind of metal is preferred or best for both intake piping and exhaust piping... thinking of making an 80mm kit for both

Yesterdays results were great, unfortunately Kris wasn't able to take his 1g up because of a few parts not coming in the mail and I sorta left him hanging Friday night so we didn't get it together in time. There were at least a dozen DSM's up there from LADSM and I know of at least five of us clicked off personal best times. I'm going to post there times as well just in case any of you know them from the ladsm.com website or from MOD...
  • Hugo (boosted_laser) - 11.4 @ 124mph (he did it twice so they kicked him off the track because he didn't have a roll cage).
  • Sam (illeagle) - 12.03 @ 120mph
  • Dustin (red97rum) - 11.6 @ 127mph
  • Frank (awdmonster) - 12.5 @ 120mph
  • Corey (gofer) - 12.07 @ 116mph

I ran my best run on my second pass so I was thinking I had a few more runs to drop it into the 11's. On my third pass I got up on my two-step at the tree and my car rolled through the light because the clutch was still engaged even with the pedal to the floor. I'm hoping its the hydraulic's and not a pressure plate or clutch failing, that would suck. I decided not to take it down the track again since Kris and I both needed a ride back to San Diego which is 110 miles south. On the way home my car clicked over to 100,000 miles which was awesome and sad to watch, we were waiting for it to fall apart when it did it. LOL
