Did some more work on the car today, still waiting for the wiring harness though. :( So far Kris and I have done so far...
-Pulled the A/T wiring harness
-Removed the fuel filter, lines, and AFPR (minus the line from the tank to the filter)
-Pulled my cruise control box/cable and installed a non-cruise cable
-Removed my Evo III IM and mocked up my new BJ's SMIM
-Relocated my coil pack and ignition amp
-Mocked up the UICP and TB to make sure it would mount to the new SMIM
-Relocated the brake fluid reservoir

Tomorrow's Plans...
-Run the new -6AN Russel line from the tank to the filter location
-Simple green the firewall/front sub-frame making it look brand new back there
-Drain transmission fluid and replace my passenger side front axle

Lots more to come before the cars back on the road but atleast I'm making progress, and Kris has been a huge help outside of letting me use his driveway as storage.
Heres how the car sits as of now...

Any you guys familar with methanol injection? I will be picking up a buddies car soonthat I help build and it's on 94octane right now, obviously it's gotta come down to 91. Evo 16g, 660s, 190wally, and is on a afc2. What do you guys think?
Great stuff if you select an appropriate nozzle+tank size. Make sure you get one with a progressive controller though. You always have the option for re-tuning on our Cali piss pump-91 LOL.

I talked to Sam up at RRE and he said it didn't matter about the progressive nozzel if I switch to link, but don't think I can afford link just yet. Not to sure if it's worth getting meth while still with an AFC, I'm looking at devilsown kits, stage 2 has the progressive nozzel, not sure wich rout I will go. I'll also have some wheels I'll be getting rid of if anyone is interested.

For what it is worth, I have tuned a Snow Performance stage 1 kit using an AFC. I know many individuals and cars rocking 600+ who tune stage 2 kits with piggyback controllers. You just have to do it right

PS: The reason I suggest "progressive" is for low-boost/throttle, but I suppose that you can always set your injection threshold higher.

I don't know much about running meth inject other than what I've heard from Sam while I've BS'd with him about it before I decided to switch to E85. With dsmlink you can run two maps, a 91oct map and a meth map. This gives you a fail safe if something happens while your going balls to the wall WOT and your water line flies off. With dsmlink if that happened your ECU would switch back to the 91oct map and your motor would stay in your car, with an SAFC if this happened nothing good would come out of it. Anyone on here go to MOD '08 remember a black 3000gt on the RRE dyno? His meth line came off at full boost and there was no fail safe... :coy: whoops.

I looked at snow kits as well, I've been doing a lot of reading and it's been forever since I used an afc, that's why I was considering throwing it onthe dyno so I could
get a better tune. If anyone is very familar with afc tuning and meth together, showing me the ropes on that would be cool. I am getting rather confused on all the different mixtures you can do, in time I will get it.

I thought about the switch to E85 but isn't there only one gas station here? Sounds like a horrible idea to go meth with an AFC, scratch that idea. If I can get a decent tune on 91 I won't worry about it, I don't plan on doing any performance mods other than a smim. I planned on going to MOD but turns put I have to work that weekend, damn vmfat 101.

Anyone reccomend any painters...this car
I'm picking up is a custom blue and I can't stand it.

Chuck, read this: What Type Of Fluids Can I Use With My Water Methanol Injection System? I run ~49/51 homebrew with ~12.0:1 zero detonation.

I am friends with the owner of that red '99 VR-4. At that time, his car made 472AWHP @4200 RPM.
I entered the dyno competition and the fail safe on my boost controller failed, boost spiked, the meth line popped off and on 91 octane I lost a couple pistons.

Anyway, his car is being fully built at FSR Motorsports with an AEM EMS over his previous ARC-2 setup. IIRC, he is still running twin DR800 turbos.

Here is a preview of his NEW shit:

I bet he sets up a fail safe map this time incase a meth line happens to blow off again. :p

hahaha I would like to think so too! They probably switched over to VP racing fuel instead... LOL :|

Forget VP and their Oil Spill, that fuel fails before it starts. I wouldn't want macros and tuna fish floating inside my fuel tank.

Alex brought this to my attention last night, thought EVERYONE here should read it since nobody wants to drive up to LA to go dyno at RRE. Maybe this will change your minds? Reese Tuning Dyno Day Incident

^Yeahhh that one spread rather quickly ever since then. I cannot say that I am surprised though... lots of pride and "d*ck swinging" went on man. There are lots of other threads surrounding it too.

I'm almost glad my car ate its wiring harness because I had this penciled in on my calendar, I was going to go but my car was down. He's lucky I wasn't there or his ass would be in jail, I wouldn't have just been ducking behind a car when he pulled out a gun I would have been halfway dialing "911". I always wondered about that guy, I saw him walking around with his possey of nuthuggers in the pits and he never introduced himself... Not very good business sense and after that dyno day I can't imagine him keep his shop open for much longer, unless his Evo nuthuggers keep his head above water. :toobad:

The only thing they'll do with an SAFC-II is street tune, and then your risking a pretty hefty ticket from the LAPD. You'll also need a wideband gauge and a logger if your running an SAFC for them to tune it, they won't just do it with the SAFC. A street tune is probably $100 to $150 from Sam, since he's the only one that'll do it...

:dsm:

And if you get link Corey or I can tune it for you. way easier than driving to LA. for a price of course

Sounds good to me, already have a EPROM so half way there. Just got to get rid of the stupid A/F gauge and grab a wideband. Is installing link that hard? Would just have to get rid of the afc as well, time to shop, if you guys know of
anyone selling link shoot me a pm or text

I have a plx sm-afr with gauge and all that I can sell you. dsmlink is very easy to instal you put their chip in your ecu, plug in the ecu, download the software, and commence to tuning. and the program is very easy to use. I have been using link for 3 years now
