Hey fellas, hope everyone is doin well. I had a question, not sure if someone asked this awhile back but could someone tell me what the symptoms are of crankwalk? I have a 99 gst. Everything Ive read says that a loud clicking sound when pushing in the clutch. Thats not happening to me but what did happen that got me wondering about this was when i was in 4th gear at about 4000 RPMs and it shook a bit. I let go of the gas and it stopped. First time I ever felt that. I do have a boost leak but i dont think that was associated with that, however my fuel does cut out around those RPMs.

I thought it might be pre-crankwalk but I just wanted to check with your guys before I jump to conclusions. How does someone proactively fix crankwalk before it happens?

Did your check engine turn on??

what did corey blow up this time? will that kid ever learn?! LOL

and for the 99gst crank walk guy, the sound could be the clutch TOB or pressure plate even the clutch disc itself that wants to fall apart with loose springs.. who knows right? No one until you start testing everything systematically and get to the bottom of it.

AWD Crankwalk Check

Done with school as of today, need to go to sleep so I can wake up and install DSMLINK in the morning. peace!

My wiring harness got wrapped around my passenger side axle while I was going 70mph and ripped everything apart in the engine bay...

So new plan:

As it stands I can't find an engine for my car... *sad face*. So what I am thinking about doing, If Kris doesn't mind helping me out with this, maybe we can do it together over a few days if you wanna tell me what to do LOL. Instead of getting a new engine because of the cost, and because only the bottom end is jacked up on mine, is build the bottom end. I can get a 7-bolt block pretty easy (which is odd considering I can't get the whole engine), then order a crankshaft rebuilt kit which comes with the crank and bearings (dsmgraveyard has a decent deal on this) and do it that way. Possibly even new rods and pistons.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. This way I can learn some of this stuff and have a decent bottom end in my car to start with.

go for it kantide ! 7 bolts FTW !!!! Slap on some evo 9 pistons on that block and get it going.

Corey that sucks big time man, i think your ex gf cursed you or something because if you look at the sequence of unlucky events they begin after you dumped her. 1. your interior got stolen since you showed up to qualcom without it 2. Headlift at RRE 3. Major boost leak causing elongated downtime. 4. harness wrap around 5. SDREV

Lincoln housing blows dirty Billy goat balls telling me I can't run because I don't run 7.0 et's. Well neither did the other street cars there. Barely breaking into the 8's and one 7.7 ss camaro. They be hatin on the 4 banger.

Yea that's exactly what I was looking at. Total cost for everything would be like 600 at the most which I can easily do next month (moving this month). Of course, that also depends if my crankshaft can be reused or if I am going to need a new one. From what I know, the block is trash.

Seriously? ...talk about underestimating

Whoops sorry! That was directed towards Kris. I was not knocking on your plan heh. You seem to be exploring your options well; build it to suit your needs but be reasonable with saving.

you do not want to use the evo9 pistons if you have plans to make power in the future. these pistons are cast pistons. alot of people in the evo community are pulling the wrist pins out of the bottom of the piston. and its normally around the 450 hp range you would be more suited to use the 2g pistons. or kantide i have a few 6 bolt blocks here at my house and you can get the 6 bolt rod 2g piston combo dsmgraveyard has and we can try to work that angle. but then there will be machining costs also.

but dont get me wrong there were alot of fast cars there. to include a vw bug(only 4 cylinder in the competition) running 5.30's and a few nitro methane cars running 4.30's all other cars were in the 6.0-6.5 range but the dang non drag cars sucked and were imbarrasing. a c6 zo6 and a c5 zo6 both running 8's and a few new camaros also running 8's. a formula1 firebird with slicks and skinnies sheet metal dash and role cage running 8.1 all in all the real drag cars made it worth it and it was free to get in. we made two attempts to race and both got shut down the second attept i was rolling throught the water box and the asked where my number was and kicked me off so i was sad at that point.

Will I need to get a crank also or just the rods/pistons? I also wanna move the car over there in the next week or so, so lemme know what day works for you then we can talk some ideas.

cas, clutch, pressure plate. are you gonna be using a 1g head or 2g head? if you use a 1g you will need a 1g intake manifold. which i have many of those

clutch is the same only flywheel changes, but it would be a good time to upgrade.

I've got the intake mani on the engine already. Only things it doesnt have is the exhaust mani but thats reusable. So it would be a good time to pop in like an ACT clutch or is there something better?

I might be needing a timing belt done. I can help if that helps with cost at all. Just don't have any tools at all since moving to SD. And from what people have said, too worried to take it to local shops here who prob won't know what items to watch out for during a timing belt change...

Anyone need any work done im in need of some cash
