Any DSM meets in San Diego

Looking for a little help here, I need to do an engine swap in about a month (putting in the 6 bolt) anyone know a shop or wanna do it to make some extra cash?

More than have someone do it, I'd like to do it myself and have someone there to kinda mentor me through the process . Working on aquiring all the tools, and the engine stand and from there gonna see what happens. All this is a leanrning experience for me what better way to learn than on my DSM while a drive around the "sedan"... which itself is a marvel of engineering failure (01 Saturn L300) . SO that said, if anyone knows what theyre doing and is willing to give maybe 2-4 hours a week to the project I'll throw in food and some compensation . Wont be until mid july when I start this anyway and only one day off a week to really work on it .

For the dude who put the request into the junkyard locations, I have a grip by my house. Let me know what exactly it is your looking for and Ill see about stopping by and picking that up for you if your to far. Im probably going to hit them up on Sat. or Sun. to see what they have. Need to pick up a few parts for the interior before my car starts to go to far into the piece of junk category.

I could not make it to Qualcomm this last week sorry fellas, usually am pretty down to get there and hang. Sounds like no one showed up though.

Yo Alex, let me know if you want to go to the junk yard, i know you've been talking about going. Also maybe I can just stop by and grab that intercooler! But make sure its during day light hours, not looking to get into anymore Life threatening situations in da hood!!

I got there late. . . was out drivin' around and as i came up the 15 i saw the smoke and was like " Ohhh Shit! ..." so I pulled in and sat in the car mostly. cruised around the lot. I only saw a couple dsm parked tho. I will be there the 29th tho.

Hey guys,

I just came back from a junkyard run this morning for my VR-4 [snagged some fuel rail isolators]. Anyway, I hit up the Ecology import side on Energy Way and the Ecology on Heritage Rd. There were only a mix of non-turbo 420A and non-turbo 4G63. There was only ONE 2G 4G63T, but the entire engine was taken. Good luck.

I'm almost certain that it was FWD as there was no rear differential in sight. I could be wrong and someone could have taken the drivetrain too .

i know this isnt the best place to ask but i dont know where else to ask at haha. i was wondering if any of you guys had a stock hood for sale or knew if any junkyards had some in good condition? i work at south bay motorsports so i might go check around the junkyards on my lunch hour but i figured i would ask the community. i have to replace my carbon fiber hood due to it flying up and smashing my windshield and damaging the hood. (wasnt my fault by the way haha) but if any of you would happen to have one it would be awsome. mabe i could do a trade of sorts for my carbon fiber hood if anyone knows how to repair them.

Verge - Sorry for the late response! I'm not getting my damn e-mail notifications. I believe that it was on the Ecology off of Energy Way.

spicoli - Did you NOT run hood pins like you're supposed to? I highly recommend the Aerocatch hood latches for next time. Check out the 2G at the junkyards that I mentioned.

Also, there was a non-turbo first gen in the Ecology off of Heritage with some aftermarket. Some parts from memory: long tube header, NGK wires, front strut bar, etc.

oh i had hood pins. but i took my car to get smogged and the guy told me to drive the car to coranodo and he said the car was ready to go. at glance it looked fine. but he didnt tell me he had popped the hood. so i was driving and at about 40 mph the hood popped up and thats how it happened.... oh yea no one go to ASAP smog haha they dont know what they are doing

Hey bboyalan, I saw a thread that you were a part of some time ago that involved P0300. I was wondering how you finally got that fixed? I am having some crazy issues and that CEL keeps popping up. It always pops when my tach starts jumping around. Just hoping you would have some helpful input.

Yeah, i changed that and the CAS and still no joy. I am completely confused. I think it is gonna take another set of eyes to help me out. I can't figure it out. If anyone wants to help hit me up and I'll give directions.

Holy cow! That thread is over one year old and has received over 3,000 views . I now remember the headaches of diagnosing that code =/ Sooo much time and parts to fix it; almost not worth it. I would highly suggest ohm-testing ALL of your electrical components/sensors before you begin to replace them. How is the maintenance looking on your car btw? Have you performed a full Seafoam treatment before? I remember changing the CAS and CPS together w/ no dice. Ahhhh what a nightmare...

I am going to say no to the seafoam, b/c I am not sure what that is. As far as maint. I just changed all the fluids, plugs and wires about a month ago.

I have been trying to run this electrical problem down for a week but I just can't seem to find it. I know there has to be a short somewhere be cause it happens at random times.

The car runs good til my tach starts jumping around then I get the misfire code. While the tach is acting up it goes to 0 then whenever I press the clutch pedal it jumps up til I release it again then back to 0.

It is really weird. Any help would be great. I have posted a couple threads on the forums but I can't get anyone to chime in.
