92 Plymouth laser RST awd
never modified, however i did replace the clutch, sold it

91 Eagle talon TSI Awd
2.3 stroker 8.5:1 compression wisco coated pistons, eagle rods, 4g64 crank
Comp 272 cams
comp valve springs, ti retainers/keepers
31x24x3.5 fmic with 3 inch intake pipes
FP Red at 15 psi
2g ported manifold
ACT 2800 clutch
walbro 255 fuel pump
850 cc injectors
TMO chip ( give me a break it was 7 years ago )

417 Awhp 390 tq at 17 psi ( i think 17 anyway ? )

and now the 92 talon tsi awd

i wish man... so many mistakes i could correct with all the knowledge i have now. i regretfully parted it out back in 2005 before i joined the military to pay for rent and such because i ended up losing my job for missing work going to meps.

Iether way i have a new toy. it has a few hiccups.

during the day when its warm it hesitates between 2-3k rpm then once its over 3k it puts me in the seat

at night when its cool it pulls hard reguardless of rpm

I ordered DSMLink and it should be here within a few days so i will be getting some data on it to see whats going on.

It may be the fact that during the day the couplings are getting warm and floppy or something, i tried doing a boost leak check but of course the damn pancake compressor i had only flowed 1 cfm so it was practically pointless. i fixed two of them but the rest werent obvious enough to hear/feel

I'll probably be able to make it to fry's 95% chance. Anyhoo I need someone to take a peek under my hood as I want to get a second pair of eyes to verify water pump seal leak or failed pump.

so after thinking long and hard here is what i think the issues with the 92 talon i have are

A: Bad maf ( would possibly explain the temp difference causing issues, however i have no solid proof that is what makes the change ), it is the stock maf from 92... so 19 years of wear

B: improperly torqued knock sensor ( was replaced by previous owner ) or possibly picking up valve train noise from the 272s and other related valve train upgrades

C: dying 14b

what sucks is i have nothing to compare against because i have nothing to log the car with currently and definitely no spare parts ( yet ) to try out

The 1g MAF in general is a POS and should be replaced even on a stock car. You'll know soon enough what the issue is since you've got ECMLink in the mail though, makes troubleshooting a hell of a lot easier.

while you are waiting you can always try to clean the mas with CRC cleaner.

i would but it almost feels like a waste since i fully intend on going speed density or with the gm maf( if maf it will be out of pure lazy since its easier to tune )

i'll give the crc cleaner a shot today and see if it helps at all, gotta pull stuff apart to finish the boost leak check anyway

Kris charges a $20 'hood pop' fee, thats why I keep my hood closed when he comes over. If he so much as even looks at the engine bay and spots something out of place he'll tell you what it is, then ask for $20. This includes, but is not limited to, low brake fluid, a broken bolt, earl leaks, etc.

im wiling to leave a deposit on it to take it with me to see if my maf is bad, if it is we'll talk about me buying it possibly?
