Anti-Lock Light?

Well my anti-lock light is always on, in the dash. Obviously it has something to do with the brakes but what exactly? Hopefully it will help me diagnose my bad squeling in my brakes.

Ya, my ABS lights on too, I checked under the hood and there's no fuse. Tried a new fuse and no holder/ metal contacts for the fuse to touch.

I've read that sometimes the wheel sensor behind the tires don't work which causes the ABS light to stay on constantly. Mine's on all the time too and I know for a fact that the ABS doesn't work. Anyone actually get this fixed?

I was told by some service guy at a dealership there was a recall on it, when I brought my talon in for the ball-joint recall. He said he wouldn't do it because I had springs a shocks, I didn't argue the point becasue I needed my car back that day. Sometimes mine comes on but then it goes away again.

If your ABS light is on then that means that your ABS system is not working properly.(im sure you all knew that)

It could be a bad ABS sensor or maby some faulty wiring.

L2RTSiAWD, you were told that there was a recal on the sensor but the dealer did not do it for you??? Thats a load of crap. Just because you had your cal lowered they refused to give you service?
I would contact that dealer again and have them replace it emediatly.
All dealers are suposta preform recall repairs imedatly. Not having ABS working can cause you to have an accident, which you could sue the dealer for because they knew about the problem, and neglected to fix it.

I've never tried braking hard when the light is on(it rarely come on in my car), but I know that the ABS is working when the rest of the time.

Well if it is an intermitant light then it could be a problem with the wiring. But i cant say for sure as i do not own my own DSM yet, but i work on my cousinds on a daily basis.

To me it sounds electrical.

Have you had your brakes serviced recently?
Next time you service your brakes check everything. Do a full brake fluid flush(with a presurized bleeder), pads, rotors, and check the calipers for any signs of leaking and such.

Off topic: Does the ABS light indicate any other problem with the braking system other than just a failure in the anti locking of the brakes?

my abs light is on too, but that is because the wires are broke to my abs sensor on my rear wheel.

If any of you have EVER used any type of datalogger in your car, your abs light will be on until you reset it.

Mine too and I've been too lazy to diagnose it.
