I am getting an Anti-Lock light and I am not sure what I can check out before I take it to the money hunger dealer for check/repair. This is what I did right before the light showed up.

Driver side CV Shaft replacement.

And all new exhaust including DP.

I checked the wheels speed sensor for visual damage (not to sure what to look for) and didnt see anything. Thats about the only advice the good old Hanes manual gives, and I know nothing about anti-lock brakes other than my car has em.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

You may have broken the tiny tiny wires inside the wheel speed sensor cable when you pulled the axel (or you forgot to hook it back up). They cost a lot and there's no way to test em (and they are a bi*** to get out). If thats the problem I suggest either living with it (disconnect the light) or paying big bucks for a new one (and a big pain to get old one out - I've done it - it ain't pretty and will never do it again), or get a used one from a yard (but you'll have to get a whole knuckle which is going to be a very big pain).

I may be looking at the wrong thing but it looked like it had only one bolt holding it in. Is it on the back side of the rotor towards the rear of the car and has some wires going into it that are surrounded by wire loom. And when you say it is expensive how expensive is it.

Thanks for the advice

$150 at least. I attempted an axle replacement job last week and the stupid hub assembly/splines were rusted tight to the axle so the whole hub had to be replaced and with that I broke the sensor.

Yea, I can identify with that. My lower strut Y peice that connect to the lower control arm, that bolt was rust welded in there and the lower control arm had to be replaced. In the process of trying to get the bolt out, (tourch, hammer, breaker bar) all unsuccesful I bet I messed up my speed sensor as well.

Thanks for all the help and it looks like I will be dropping a couple of bills soon for that sensor.:thumbdown

Yes that is it with only 1 bolt. BUT... it is a plastic cylinder and is soooooo tight in the knuckle (heat probably expanded it) that you'll never get it out without breaking it. I've broken every one.

So, when I break upon taking it out, i assume that i still can replace it with a new one from the dealer.

Turns out the parts store sold me the wrong CV Shaft. The one installed in the car is for non-abs cars and doesnt have the teeth that the abs sensor reads off of.

New CV Shaft made for anti-lock fixed the problem :thumb:
