Anti-lock light on, idle surge, and no acc.

So the other day driving around in the snow, all of the sudden my anti-lock light comes on, and for a few minutes I have pretty much no accesories. Heater blower is really under-powered, my fuzz buster keeps coming on and off, cd deck starts going on then off. It fixed itself after awhile. But then it did it again, and conveniently at that same time, my radiator neck broke (will post pics). So I shut off the car, and got a ride to get some coolant. Well I got it about home. And no more than 20 yards from my driveway, it started to die. I just dropped the clutch and kept it running. But then it finally died. No power at all... Well I got a jump from a friend who had followed me home, and the car ran fine. Blower blew full speed. CD player turned on. Anti-lock light off.

Well this morning I hooked it up to the battery charger to start it, and it started idleing at about 3k. It worked its way down, but its now idle surging like an SOB. Last I checked it has no acc. power still.
I don't think I wanna know the true answer, but I'm guessing alternator?

Sounds like an alt or battery for the dying. Get out a voltmeter and find out, a simple test. Idk why that would cause idle surge though..

I think that the alt belt is just loose. Because I started it after this post, and it ran fine for a little bit.

Okay, now I can't run more than one accessorie at a time. If I have the radio on, and turn the wipers on the radio shuts off. If I have the heater blowing and turn on my lights the heater blower slows down, even on high speed.

Also, it was fine right when I had started it this morning. All accessories working right, then I parked it and let it idle a bit, then came back out and its having problems again. When I put the battery on the charger, it only takes maybe 30 seconds to be up to 12 volts.

I am thinking its a connection somewhere. Because I just turned it off then started it again and it ran fine. Powered all accessories.

Sometimes the battery cables start to corrode internally. pull the cables off the battery and check for anything cut some of the shielding if needed.

When it is running fine and all electrical is working, I can remove the positive cable and the idle raises a few hundred RPM. But sometimes when it is having problems I take the positive cable off and it dies.

sounds like the alternator then check the whole ground wire take it to a local pep boys they will do a load test on the system hope u fig it out

First, clean your battery terminals. Use some grease made for battery terminals to keep them from corroding again.

Next, check your battery voltage with the car off. If that's good start your car then remove the positive terminal from the battery. If the car starts to sputter and die, your alternator or a connection to/from it is the problem.

It was a dead cell.
This is the 4th battery I have had in the Talon since I bought it back in July...

I wonder if your alternator is overcharging your battery.

The alternator is charging the battery at all anymore.
The alternator belt snapped earlier.
