Hi

i wanna make a switch that i can turn on and off so when i leave my car i turn off the fuel pump, so if ppl try to start it without having turned on the switch they wont be able to start since no fuel is comming to the engine.

i need help for the wiring part, what wire should i put a switch on?

a diagram would also be a great help!

hope you guys can help!
thanks in advance

...what if they throw the switch on? You're still screwed. If you rewire your fuel pump, there is a part that is a fuse holder which if you take out, will not start the car. Or, you can wire in a key switch like the ones in elevators. Anyway if you really want to do this and you haven't rewired your pump yet, you can take about 5 ft of 14ga wire, cut the fuel pump plug wires, solder one end to the other ends, then connect the ends to the switch and mount it wherever you want. To access your fuel pump plug, lift up the backseats, unscrew the 4 screws from the plate that has the rubber mounting on top and it's the connector with blue and black wires. The blue wire is the positive and the black is the ground.

The problem is if they can hot wire a car, they are familiar with wiring schematics. So they can just by pass the key switch. I just unplug the fuel pump harness in bad areas. Easy as pie and the car WILL not start if left disconnected.

I would suggest you rewire the fuel pump if you haven't yet, and put the cutoff switch on the low side of the relay.
Think of something weird, like lets say, horn button, hazzard lights button, things someone stealing your car wouldn't want to touch if you don't want a hidden button.
A on/off button would be a safer install, switches with a big post sticking out can get broken off if their plastic. Get a metal one if your set on a switch.
IMO I would put it somewhere like behind the center console or maby under the trunk/gascap latch,
sneaky sneaky

I like the old school High beam push button switchs.. That was mounted on the floor board of older vehicals... It hides under the carpet rather well.. And will NEVER be found. :thumb:

Best reason to use a floorboard mounted solution is that no one knows your doing it.... If its a hand manipulated switch Everyone in the car see's you do it...
Along with the Guy car jacking you....

well the switch wouldnt take that much voltage really.. but does the 2g also need a rewiring to maximise the output of their fuel pump? or is it properly wired from stock?

Yess the 2g does need the rewire to maximize the FP voltage.
Thats why you can Also use that Small switch as a Master on/off switch for the RELAY...
When on the ECU controls the FP as normal. But you get the option of breaking the circut with the Switch. Thus, Noone takes your car.

Lol yea a tazer would be nice, until you get sued by the thief for a Illegal security device in the car.

I think a taser wired to the seat would be more fun.

I like the shop in south africa better. They mount spray nozzles under the doors that point up. they spray fire 5 to 6 fet out the side of the car. I guess they have bad issues there with car jackings.

The reason to rewire is higher voltage, as what the car has at say the battery.
Bigger wire= lower resistance, higher power capability.

Floorboard switch sounds like a good idea too!
Or you could just get a dui' and have to get a breathalizer installed!

ROFL :notgood:

Not familiar with the fuel cutoff idea but my brother has an ignition kill switch installed in his 91 mustang, I've been thinking about getting one.

Get in the car, start the car and flick the switch (hidden under the dash or elswhere close) and your good to go, unless your a bad guy trying to steel the car.

About two years ago someone tried it, screwdriver i the doorlocks and ignition. Started the car and had no clue, after 5 seconds the engine cuts off and car won't start until reset. They gave up and left the car for dead...

I used to just take the fuel pump relay with me

Someone had a key to my vee dub... not sure how they got it... or maybe there was a way to start it without damaging anything

but without a relay on hand, or knowledge of your wiring, a thief can't move the car

after taking the pump relay inside with me, I never again found my car parked differently or the front end alignment screwed up
