hello all,
i have a different breed im working with to tune for efficiency. i have a 98 montero sport es 2.4l 4g64 sohc 16v motor and 5 spd 2wd. now, i have a safc 2 wired in, i have all the signals except knock because for some reason its not found on my ECM pinout, HOWEVER< i am getting weird surges while driving between 1800-3800 rpms. like a good chug every 30 seconds or so. Any ideas? since the install of the SAFC it is also showing crazy MAF Hz spikes when it does this and the rpms drop. i wired up and innovate lc1 i had laying around just need to program it for wideband but this thing is running stupid rich since i put the SAFC in causing straight black carbon water to flow out of my exhaust. any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks and look forward to tuning with you

What size injectors are you using? Also what is your a/f ration at cruise and idle.Update your profile too if you get a chance.:thumb:

the lc1 is setup for narowband until my my Serial USB converter cable comes in next week to reprogram for wideband. its running the 190cc injectors i believe, i know they are yellow. it feels like fuel overload. i do have a afpr im just waiting on the fuel rail adapter to set the fuel pressure
will update profile tomm
thanks

Are not they too low?

I'm sorry they are 510cc injectors

Another subject leading up to this is wondering how complicated it is doing a dohc swap onto my 4g64 which runs Soch and distrbutor off the cam, I eventually want to swap a full 6 bolt 4g63t on t25 or maybe a t3/t4 turbo with a mild tune for power and efficiency so my little 160hp 2.4 doesn't struggle going up hills on the interstate as well as maybe break the 30mpg mark, optimism is my guide, I'm looking for efficiency and slightly more power
Or possibly keeping my 2.4 and dohc it and turbo is but I would need a sheet metal intake pointing opposite that of a fwd motor since my truck is fr

Do I need to run Dsm link to get the fuel to cycle between open and closed loop? I'll hook the car up to my scan tool for timing and fuel loop but I'm wondering if it's staying on open loop that's why about every 30 seconds I get a quick jolt/chug under low load throttle under 30% and my low throttle high throttle points are set to 10/50 with -20% at idle to lean it out all the way to -28% at 3400 rpm an slope curve back to -10% at 6000 rpm lo thrtle and high is still set to 0% correction

bump, any help? please?
turns out my LC1 controller was bad, sent it back to innovate, i got the safc setup for low throttle starting at idle to -20% max is at 3400 rpm at -34% and its helping some but still occasional sputter. could it be that i dont have my AFPR hooked up and still running a stocker on the rail and the return line is too much fuel? EGR? any ideas?
thanks

When I was running 550cc injectors with a 14b I had my cor set to -19 cruise -13 at idle so within that range but becareful till you get a wideband back in there. The lc-1 wideband has to be air calibrated I prefere the aem uego wideband I tossed the lc-1 becuase it required just that much extra work to deal with.Hmm this going to be more confusing not to sure about this montero sports? Are you running all motor 4G64?
