I posted back in October of last year about my setup and what I had planned for it. I got some great feedback and advice from a lot of members of which I greatly appreciate. :thumb: However, a few things have now changed. I've made my mind up on some things and decided against others. So with that being said, I was hoping to get another round of feedback from you guys concerning my new setup. I'm open to suggestions and constructive critisism.

On a side note, I hope this doesn't upset anybody that I made an entirely new thread. I felt that because some things had changed that a fresh thread with fresh opinions would be beneficial. If any mods disagree please feel free to remove this thread and I will repost in my old one, as I am not trying to break any rules. Thanks in advance.

If you're not doing internals yet then the only thing I'm not seeing is transmission upgrades, but you still have low miles so I'd just see how far you can push the stock tranny. Good luck with it.

Looks pretty good. You will probley only need about 650cc-750cc injectors depending on how much boost you want to run. I would figure running on stock internals, you wouldn't want to push too much boost. But then again, we all do dumb stuff. OMG :p

Good setup man, car should be nice when its done. Good Luck! :thumb:

Thanks man. Yeah, the only reason I've decided on going larger with the injectors (and I'm not sure how large yet) is because I'll be buying DSMLink and they can set the default for them and I can run larger injectors without problems. This leaves me room for growth and allows me to run lower duty cycle. So why spend money on 680's when I can get 800's and run them just the same?

That is true. I have 1000cc injectors and DSM Link and its actually quite funny. When i'm at idle, according to the injector duty, my injectors are only using 2-3% of its full potential. Thats idleing at 1k RPMs. :shhh:

What were you thinking I need done to the transmission besides a clutch and flywheel later on??

Yeah, it should.

Two more thing you need to get on your list.

Better headgasket and ARP head studs.

Okay, didnt' think about those alex. Prob a good idea.

It would be a wise idea. Have you thought about weight reduction at all?

I'd probley push 17 PSI daily with a new head gasket and ARP head studs on a 50 trim turbo.

I was thinking I'd hover around 16 psi for a low setting and turn it up to 21-22 when I feel like some fun... should be able to handle that no problem with a good tune.

Good looking mod list. However, I have a couple of suggestions:
I know you mentioned both the 255 and 190, I'd suggest the hi-press 255, re-wired(especially if you get the AFPR, just gives even more room for tuning)

Also, I suggest the ACT2600 over the Centerforce. I had a Centerforce, and it completely sucked, barely lasted a year. I know others who have not like the longevity of Centerforce clutches)

I'm led to believe you are speaking of a Ex. manifold. I know there have been many DSMs that constantly run 12, and even 11s on the stock-ass mani. Might as well save yourself a few bucks.

With you getting DSMlink, I don't see why you can't go with a 272/272 cam setup, as the idle will not be as lumpy as it would be without DSMlink, not to mention open up quite abit through the entire powerband.

Alex mentioned ARPheadstuds, and a better hg. Good idea. I personally have a 4-layer hg, after blowing my stocker. Not an issue since. :thumb:

Yeah, I've been reading up on clutches b/c that's prob my next buy, I'd say both centerforce and clutchmasters are out. Although I fear the ACT 2600 b/c I've read it's hard on the tranny.

The only reason for the ex manifold is b/c I'm going with an external wg and don't wanna get into welding on the stocker.

But very good info and ideas, thanks!

As far as a clutch, i'd say about 70% of DSMers seem to like the ACT. I am running the Centerforce dual friction clutch right now. It is a nice clutch with an easy release. I've driven an ACT 2600 street disc and it drove beatiful. My next clutch, I'm probley going to throw an ACT clutch in there.

Your setup, no doubt about it, 255 fuel pump with AFPR.

As far as exhaust manifolds, you can get the stock cast-iron looking manifold already bored out. Alot of DSMers just take their stock mani and just port the hell out of it. Great idea and improves performance. If your on a money management, that would be the way to go.

Like your car Shane, i'm big fans of the 2gb's. Im usually engine before exterior work, but you need to lower that car. :thumb:

I've done a bit of research and I'm pretty sure I'm going with the SBR 3500. Has the pedal pressure of a 2100, better clamping force than a 2600 and seems to be doing well on many 1g and 2g DSM's.

Good choice, my brother's AWD sypder had a SBR 3500 in there and when that one went out, we got the SBR 4000 clutch. Very nice clutches.

How much hp/torque does your bro's AWD push? How long did the 3500 hold up? Supposedly, the 3500 is supposed to hold around 400 lbs of torque...

My brother's AWD sypder was dynoed at 291/315. We hope to do a little more modifications soon. The 3500 was on there when he bought it already slipping a little bit. The conersion was done by SBR prior to my brother buying, actually the shipping manager (Kurt i beleive) owned it and did the conversion. So he had installed the 3500 when my brother bought it, then when that went out, my brother like how the SBR clutches felt, so he decided to go with the 4000 with the intention of heavily modifying it this summer.

Hmm, wonder if I should go with the 4000.. Idk, something to think about.

Couple things...

Do not get springs without getting shocks. Do not get springs that are too stiff for the shocks you get. This WILL help you go faster, as decent shocks can be directly linked to better 60ft times.

Fuel:
Wally 255HP... no reason not to, I mean, they're like 100$
AFPR, and 850 or so injectors. 850 will support 55 lbs per minute of air with only 80% duty cycle.

DSMLink plus wideband is THE smartest tuning setup possible. Definitely go that direction.

Check out other options for turbos. I know for a fact that you will change your mind about 15 times before you buy one. I just made an offer on a turbo last night after diligently looking for about 5 months (its a project car so I'm not really in a rush)

I would recomend researching the 20g (both the buschur racing style, and the TD06 style), a non PTE or bullseye 50trim :| , an FPgreen, or any of the other turbos that are in that range.

Manifold: Stick with a stock2g or if you HAVE to upgrade, go with a EVO3. Get your wastegate mounted on your o2 housing. use the money you would have spent on the manifold for a good O2 housing... Too many people leave that out and it has a LARGE effect on spool and powerband.
