ya ya ya ik we hear wayyyyy too much about ebay headers but i just need this one question answered....

I need a new header for my 95 eclispe rs. My current one has a leak in it. it as become evident that i need a new one but i am not the one paying for the header. since i am not paying for the header i have to get a cheap one. An ebay header.

m2 Exhaust Header 1995-1999 Eclipse RS GS Non Turbo 2.0 - eBay (item 180626819635 end time Feb-22-11 19:23:04 PST)

I found that one, it looks pretty nice but i just wanna run it through you guys because im sure you all know plenty more than me so if you have any wonderful knowledge to share ill consider this post a Celebration of Knowledge

Yep thats a cheap looking header it will no doubt work.
the things I worry about with ebay headers would be flange straightness and weld quality.
Then you gotta worry about fitment issues if these are all things your willing to consider then go for it

Looks pretty cheap. Especially for that price, my guess would be that it won't last long before breaking down.

When I had my gs I bought that exact same header down pipe combo for my 420a and it was welded extremely well, and the flange was straight was checked by a straight edge and feeler gauges, and for fitment issues there where none. It fit perfectly with my cat back and high flow cat and sounded amazing. The worst thing of it was the cheap gaskets that come with it and i still have the header and down pipe. Although I don't have my gs any more.

OP go for it they are a great cheap add on that flow awesomely.

I also had the same one when my stock down pipe developed a leak. I ran it for over a year, no problems...It's still hanging in my garage as a good memory of the first mod I got for my car. It will work fine. It likely won't crack, it's probably straight, and the welds are probably just fine. It's a damn NA header, no need to spend more than $87 on it. I do recommend heat wrapping it, though.

The only issue you may run into is installing it. Rusty exhaust bolts are the worst.

This is the only problem with cheap Ebay stuff the quality is very hit and miss. If you bought two from the same company one could be a great quality product and the next could have poor welding and flanges that don't line up. Not to discourage you or anything just a little heads up that you could have a few small problems but the price makes it worth the risk. On a side note if you have problems getting the exaust bolts off try spraying them with knock'er loose or even some coke (obviously the soda not the drug) to avoid snapping the bolts.

i personally like ones that have flat flanges so you could always add a little sealer for added protection. i have always feared the type that seem to fit into each other due to fear of leaks i got a set off ebay called bbp they work just fine check them out

Should work fine for your situation. Make sure your cat back exhaust is 2.5 inch like the post says, or you'll be heading to muffler shop.Good Luck!!!!

ya i was thinking about that im not that well informed so i was wondering if any of u guys know if the stock catback is 2.5 inches.

so far thanks guys im probably gonna get this header after a little more research

My opinion would be go for it. To be honest with you unless it has a name brand on it, there all the same from ebay. BUT as shake_zulla said it is very hit and miss. Also you are running on the 420a so your not gonna work that header to hard anyway. If it makes you feel any better about it, I got one on the way right now and its even cheaper then yours.

when mines gets here and i put it on ill post some pics and let you know the details of it. If it leaks, fits, quality of it and everything else so stay tuned my friends.

i never liked the ebay headers mainly due to the reputation of poor part quality. I spent more than i should have on the DCsports ceramic coated header and never had any problem with it. It is currently sitting in my basement waiting for someone to buy it LOL
