Well, about 9 months ago my 93 spun a rodbearing. So I bought a 91 tsi, with a 6bolt, that had a built bottom end. I got the motor out of my 93, and put the 6 bolt in. I've been trying to figure out why it isn't starting, reading threads...ect. I have 37psi of fuel pressure on my afpr, i tested the sparkplug wires, just put new ngk bpr7es in, New eprom ecu, new 1000cc delphi injectors, and a new coolent tem sensor.(the lower one, I'm getting the upper sensor today)

I was just wondering what other ideas you guys might have for me?
thanks.

You should be checking everything thoroughly. Make sure your engine is getting fuel, remove your fuel rail with injectors (unplug the coil pack) and have someone crank your car and make sure fuel is spraying out of your injectors. Check spark, remove each spark plug wire, place it on your valve cover, crank the car and check if it's sparking. Do a compression check. Check your CAS and coolant sensor.

There are only so many things that will prevent your or any car from starting. I've been seeing so many of these threads lately, it's getting kind of rediculous. There's nothing unique to your car that's preventing it from starting and that hasn't already been covered in previous threads.

i have check the wires on the valve cover, the spark just fine.

I'm using the cas of my 7 bolt, along with the coilpack. I've tried flipping the cas around and that does nothing, I've gone over all connections, and everything seems fine.

So what exactly happens when you try to start your car?

Check for fuel next - you can try disconnecting your coil pack, removing your spark plugs and sticking rags into your cylinders through the spark plug holes. Turn your CAS by hand a few times and then check your rags to make sure they smell like fuel. You could even just turn your CAS a few time by hand and then pull your spark plugs and make sure you smell fuel on them.

Verify your timing marks at TDC.

Also do a compression test and post the results please.

Let us know what happens next.

I made sure that timing was on, I'm out in my garage now, I'm checking the injectors now, and then i'll do a comprestion test.

thanks!

edit: when i try to start the car, it just cranks and cranks and cranks, cranks over at normal speed.

I got a band new one for FFWD, can i have my dsmlink in so i can use my 1000cc injectors.

I just tried checking for fuel by turning the cas, and i didn't hear the injectors clicking, and i took the plugs out and the didn't smell like gas at all.

I'm going to dig though my pile of parts and try to find a good cas...after i check compression.

The compression will be lower because the piston rings haven't seated yet. But it will at least give you an idea of where it's at.

If you're not getting fuel IMO it's probably your CAS. Put a spare in and it should hopefully start for you.

Let us know how you make out.

EDIT: I forgot to mention it in my last post, when you turn the CAS your keys have to be turned to ON.

I've tested the wires going to the CAS, and the check out perfect. When I plug in the cas and try and turn it, I hear nothing, I pull the plugs and I don't smell gas.

Could this be anything besides a bad CAS?

I would also check the MPI relay, if that has not been tried. I see that has already been suggested, but I had that problem. That relay supplies power to your CAS and various other sensors, and without power, it won't trigger anything :)

Does the +12V stay there while you are trying to start the car? In my case, without the MPI relay firing, the CAS voltage would usually float to 12V, but as soon as I would try to start the car, it would drop to almost nothing.
