Are any BOV's better than others? Greddy type S? stock 1g?

I'm hoping to eventually get the car to around 25 psi of boost, so looking for something that wont have a problem holding until then.

Thanks for the replies.

Stock 1g is a very good BOV, but tial and HKS are also very good.I have ran cars with both of them and have no complaints about either one.

Well, your profile says that you are completely stock, so honestly a stock 1g BOV is more than enough. If, however, you want to upgrade now and have big plans for the car, my advice is go with either TiAL or HKS. I personally use an old style HKS SSQV and it works great, never had issues with it. Remember you have to recirculate it unless you go speed density or GM Maft, so you would need to get either a recirculation kit for the SSQV or a newer TiAL Q that allows for recirculation.

will anything bolt right on without having to repleace the upper ic pipe? planning on dsmlink fmic and new injectors next month

A 1g BOV is fine for your goals. A modded 1g BOV is good for over 30psi(there are things you can do other then just crushing it). On my 2g, I use a modded skyline BOV and it looks the exact same as a 1g bov. Look at pics of a new skyline GT-R, looks like a pair of painted 1g bov's.

but im wontering if anything will bolt right onto the 2g plastic bov flange without modification or a new upper intercooler pipe

To be blunt, if you still have the stock UICP, you don't need a BOV yet. Get hard intercooler pipes at the very least before you go worrying about a BOV. If you're getting a FMIC in the next month then get the intercooler pipes flanged for your BOV of choice, most reputable kits are offered in a variety of flanges.

problem is my current 2g plastic bov isnt holding any pressure 0

Yeah....they do that haha. I'm actually unsure if the flange is the same between the 1g and 2g, it miiiiight be but I honestly never ran a 1g BOV, or even the stock intercooler piping for all that long, so I couldn't tell you. Sorry, good luck though, I'm sure someone here can tell you.

EDIT: And there you go, in the time I took to type it you got your answer.

only mod so far is fipk k&N filter, ordering a mbc and turbo timer tonight, btw any special turbo timer i should go with? ill get one from ebay only 1g bov i found is $50 and $15 shipping, and +25 for the 2g to 1g adapter.

Or is a turbo timer a turbo timer and it doesn't matter?

Stock turbo? You don't really need a turbo timer. What are your plans?

i have a greddy full auto turbo timer if you want, but you basically dont need one at this point and if you get a bov you should really have hard ic pipes. otherwise u wouldnt necessarily need one, you could just replace your stock one. (id highly suggest hard pipes!! you'll notice a slight power increase as well!)

You can get a 1g bov which can be had for cheap these days, or you can go the hks route and call it a day. I personally love the hks ssqv, but since my car came with a type s i decided to stick to it. Don't forget to recirculate.

You do need an adapter w/stock UICP. If you can be in a 1gbov setup for under $100 go for it. Could very well be the last bov you ever have to buy for it, even if you upgrade the UICP down the road.

I believe the skyline BOV's still have the :dsm: cast onto them somewhere as well.

Yup. Right next to the "Mitsubishi" engraving.
