The inside diameters are the -3, -4, -5 it is measured in 16ths, 3/16ths = -3.

Pretty close but not quite correct. That is the OD of hard line tubing. If you are using the typ. stainless steel braided hose the ID is smaller.

This is the ID of the hose we sell at sweetperformance.com

-4 .22"
-6 .34"
-8 .43"
-10 .56

Yes, this is 100% correct. ^^^^^^

(damn, and I ran down stairs to the basement looking for my old Aeroquip catalog to answer this one.....)

Here's a nice and handy chart. This info is for pretty much the same for all major brands of the stainless braided hose. (ei. Aeroquip, Earls, XRP, Russell, etc....)

I honestly dont know what AN stands for.... Most any speed shop or performance warehouse will sell stainless braided hose. Summit is one for example. You oil return should be a 10AN and your oil feed line should either be a 3AN or a 4AN. Most people perfer/use #4 because there is a better abundance of 4AN fittings, but #3 will work just as well. :thumb:

i've always hear AN stands for "american national fine"

Thanks for the update guys, the math makes much more sense now. I'm gonna save that chart! :thumb:

stands for army navy too, well thats what my instructor told me, but i also have a book that says airforce navy. but now the system has all gone to MS numbers. if you want to get that stuff, you can try aircraft parts stores. look up the spencer aircraft hardware book, and you can find all the AN fittings there. might be a little on the expensive side, because its aircraft approved parts.

I'm looking to make my own oil return soon but I don't know what these fittings are called or who sells them. I know its an oil return flange but is there a number for it? I read over this thread and I am unsure as to how the AN fittings would attach to the turbo end and oil pan end. Something is missing. Anybody got a write up or small tech article on putting one together that is complete?

Those aren't AN fittings (which I also thought stood for Army Navy, not Air Force). That oil return line will bolt up to the turbo and the oil pan directly. Well, you still need gaskets, but that's all. Since that's an FP oil return line, ask them if you can buy just the flanges, if you're dead set on making your own.
