OK there is a problem, i feel like my car is getting slower and i don't know why, my compression is good i am not venting, i change my oil, just changed plugs and wires, and i really don't know what to do, i haven't changed my fuel filter, but everything else, or can it be the summer heat i am here in Miami Fl. The other day i was desperately looking for an answer on the power loss of my car, and i found a line that runs to the intake of and the nipple was broken so unmetered air was getting in threw a hole the size of a quarter maybe a little smaller, i really don't know how long that was there for. Can unmetered air, damage anything in the engine?

Is your profile updated? Any other work done lately? Give us more details on why you think it's slower like rpm/full boost, how much psi, and bogging.........

i have my Boost gauge reading 18 pounds, well right before it drops to 10 at redline, and i its always been like that since i installed my Turbo xs boost controller, but i recall my car being alot faster when, i was completely stock with the boost controller solenoid removed and my cat-back, and right after i installed the whole drivetrain components and the bov, the car felt a little faster almost nothing, then i bought the biggest tires that would fit the stock chrome gs-t rims i ended getting 225, almost perfect fit, i remember purchasing for grip, and now i can even get a little squeal, on WOT, not even on a sharp turn. The power loss wasn't over night, it was over a 2 week period. Another big incident that made me think i was getting slower.. Read below..

I go to a strip here in homestead on a farm land and its privately owned, and we hang out and race, its a quarter mile with a tree, but no timing is done. I go to hang out with a good friend of mine, (integra gs-r, msd system, headers back exhaust, cold air.) when i just had the solenoid removed and catback at about 14 pounds, he would beat me by half a car, i put the the whole drive train system new, BOV, Boost controller at 18, new tires and just the other day we went and he pulled 2 cars on me WTF , he says he hasn't done anything but change the timing belt, the valve and head gaskets, i do have my t-25 but man thats wierd. I could also feel it that my car slowed down a little bit, it just wasn't this, also when i turn my a/c on i loose tremendous amount of power. What could this be?... (sorry for the essay)

At this point, the best thing to do is to gather more data. Give it a complete tune up, plugs wires fuel filter......etc, perform a boost leak and compression test and see what you come up with.

First of all, of course the A/C is going to draw tremendous amounts of power. You don't notice when someone turns the A/C on in a car with a v6, but you really notice in these 4 cylinder cars. In my own experience, I've noticed it to be worse with the 1g's than the 2g's, but don't take that as fact. Why do you think half the people on this forum have unhooked the A/C, or just removed it completely? My belt is gone on my 2g, the one that controls A/C and power steering. I was getting 30 mpg, now I'm getting close to 35.

And there are lots of factors on how your car performs. I had a 91 GSX running around a mid 13, and on one of my plug wires, the boot was bad. This caused my car to not be able to boost higher than about 10psi. I have recently moved from Wyoming to South Dakota, and needless to say, my cars run like ass up here, or at least they did until I tuned and the ECU had a chance to adjust. I don't know if it's the change in altitude, humidity, or what. But they were very sluggish. I didn't notice on my n/a 2g, but my 94 AWD Talon I noticed a big difference in boost levels, and overall performance.

You could always just reset your ECU, maybe it pulled timing really bad and isn't giving it back to you? Check for boost leaks too.

ok on the compression check, i got 170~165~160~160, Yea, mightve, i really wish i had a logger right now, to bad i have no idea how to read it :coy: , my nieghbor works for toyota and he has a logger with the software to read my car and he used that to pull my cel light, i have to ask him for it.

yea i was going to say, with that boost, unless your running some serious fuel mods and an extremely effiecent turbo, the smic cant cool your air down in time before it reaches the engine..... aka KNOCK UP THE WIZZZZO...LOL...seriously tho, get some way of monitoring knock or turn your boost down....ALOT....(or get a huge fmic like i am)

LOL the t25 doesnt flow enough at 20psi to even max out the stock fuel system. hell i know people with 16g's running 18psi, stock fuel system(save for a rewire) and theyre still around 90% duty cycle and still a wee on the rich side.

its just the heat, and the fact youre running the a/c.

if you want, you could do a cooling system flush, new cap, new 180* tstat, and water wetter. help things run a little cooler in the heat of the day. possibly get around to that fuel filter, clean your intake filter(youd be suprised how cleaning and reoiling a k&n can make the car seem more peppy), plugs/wires, boost leak test.

btw id stick the t25 back down to 16psi. trying to push 20psi all the time will only shorten its measly lifespan.

have you had a buddy in the car and asked them if the car still felt fast? cause theres always the problem where the driver gets used to how fast the car is, and sometimes the only way to find out if its still as fast as it used to be is have a buddy drive the car, and you sit passenger. that always worked for me. of course a evo16g and support helped allieviate that problem, whenever it feels slow i just go race some ls1/vettes.

They were talking about intercooler heat soak, not fuel delivery. I don't think the fuel delivery was in question.

Other than that, good advice.

I agree with everyone. Make sure it's had it's proper tune up. Turn the boost down to something reasonable. Keep the AC off and try a run at night when the air is cooler. There's a good chance you'll notice a serious difference.

Biggest thing - The combination of high heat and running out of the efficiency range of your turbo is probably resulting in excessive knock and thus retarded timing. Retarded timing = loss of power.

Ok guys i believe i fixed my problem, Ohh for the record i never run with my a/c on, ok i turned the boost down to 14.5 psi, and i feel a big difference from 18, thanks alot guys for all your help. Th car definatly pulls harder in 1st and second.
