where have you guys have luck with them? i no some auto parts ones are junk. any suggestions greatly appreciated! i have had the best of luck with CarQuest remanned ones before (on other cars) but just wanted to here other people before i purchase for my dsm... 1995 tsi.:talon:
 
i bought one years ago from Autozone -- lifetime warrenty.
Ive replaced it prob - 5 times ? every time-- free

(ya i eat them pretty fast, belts squeeling and times of oil spraying all over dont help them.)

same... gotta love their lifetime warranty.
 
When you do get your new alternator I would reccommend using the factory heat shields for the exhaust manifold because I understand that the extreme heat greatly accelorates alternator wear, and leads to premature failure.
 
Best ones I've gotten (and they work every time unlike many auto stores) are from an alternator/starter repair shop. You can get either new or refurb.

This is what I do, rebuilt or refurbished ones have always proven themselves to me.
 
Yea I just ordered one from carquest. (I work at a garage and we have the best of luck with them but they are pricey.) Even at MY cost im paying 207 dollars for a reman. one. Plus im giving my core. List price was like 320 or something. But like I said I trust them. I was willing to pay a little more to get one that we have best luck with.
