So I have a manual but I bought the 85 amp alternator which I believe is for automatics, the only difference I see is the extra post, is that for a ground? Also the plastic piece that sits on the power terminal, does it go against the alternator, then the wire,or do you put the wore first, then the plastic piece and bolt? Thanks

The alt's ground is through it's casing. Usually a small stud sticking out is just for mounting a cable clamp or if something nearby neads a ground although some after market alts put a ground starp on it. Check with multimeter to see if it's connected to the case.
Put the plastic insulator over the stud against the alt and the wire terminal on top with the nut on top of that.
