Dang 3!! Thats horrible. I've heard autozone Alt are bad tho, to stick with the oem. Then again mines a rebuild so im more the sure internally its not oem. So much for getting my car running on the same day of the post :p

Also if you have a good dam check all the diodes. Its what changes the alternators ac current to available dc current.they are a one way check valve so if they burn up its possible no voltage will leave the alternator. Also the obvious voltage regulator is usually what goes out first in an alternator.

You need to follow your charging wire from the alternator, to where the huge fuse is, then to the battery.

Anything under 13.0 volts is a dying alternator or a dead one.

You may have a dead alternator yourself. Remove the alternator and have them check it in the alternator tester separately from the rest of the system.

A alternator that maintains just one voltage my have a bad diode which is what these guys use to regulate the voltage throughout the RPM range.

Keep us updated. I'm curious as to what this problem is.

Problem Solved! It turns out it has been the alternator all along! I'm assuming the guy was slacking the rebuild due to the fact that i talked him into not charging me full price for the rebuild. It took him 3 rebuilds to get it right. What an ahole, made me drop the alternator that many times. Well atleast i can drop it and install it in less than 40 minutes now :p Thanks to all those who had any input for advice :hellyeah:

Yea, I know, some times we have to learn the hard way.
But, I bet you, that you learn a lot about the (Alternator charging system).:sneaky:

This is how we become to be a (DSMers).:thumb:

Glad you figure it out, be prepared for your next issue.

Well, I put a BRAND new OEM alt in.And it charges 14.6volts.. but when the car warms up it will drop to low of 13.6v and then seems when my sound system hits or i use more battery juice it will increase for a bit? is this normal?
