Alternator out, what is this connector to?

Well, I've yanked out my alternator, but now I've got this little connector that I am not sure what it was connected to, since it popped out while I was pulling the cable to the battery and I didn't see where it was. Can anyone identify this connector on the end and where it should go to?

The top connector? Its for the power steering pump. It attaches top and center of the PS pump. Theres a little nipple for it to go on.

Great, thanks, now I can finally finish this godforsaken nightmare of an alternator change. The middle one is to the alternator connector and the one below that goes from the alternator + to the battery BTW.

next time pull your radiator first. It takes less time than pulling the fan and gives you more room.

I don't know, I had the fan out in less than five minutes, so that wasn't the problem. Where I ran into problems was that I had a devil of a time getting to the 12mm upper alternator support bracket bolt that is behind the water pump pully. I couldn't find any long 12mm wrenches, and I was wrestling with that until I decided to bolt the round ends of 12mm and a 10mm combination wrenches together with a lock bolt, at which point everything progressed smoothly. I'm sure that the next time I have to replace an alternator I should be able to do it in less than an hour rather than the 2 and a half it took this time

....kinda like your first timing belt replacement. After a while you get to where you can just pop them in and out.

Of course you could be unlucky like me and have water pump pullies without locater pins. I swear I have spent more time on that one pully set than I have on anything else.

Huh, I can't find the stud the wire is supposed to attach to on the pump. Maybe it's too covered in oil... could someone post a pic (super pretty please)? Before anyone flames me, please know that I did check my service manual first, it has no diagram of the pump.

khrispy, is that the same wire in the picture you posted? As for where the one I was talking about goes, here is a picture that I took of where it connects. The picture was taken looking almost straight down on the pump. The nipple that it attaches to looks like it is made of brass and almost looks like a tiny little hose fitting. If it's been off for awhile, spray the area with a little degreaser and you should be able to find it okay.

If the other one is different let me know and I'll check under my car (can't right now because the back end is on my jackstands with no wheels or brakes due to a broken lug stud I'm in the process of replacing )

Yeah, same wire- sorry if that wasn't clear. I was looking on the top side (facing the hood) so I didn't see it. Thanks! Update: found the connector and plugged it in. Yay!
