Hi everyone. I was wondering what the stock alternator ampage was for a 1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD Turbo. It is a 5 speed. Also i was wondering if the stock ampage happens to be a 90 amp, then could i use a 75 amp and be okay? Thanks.

Are you 100% positive, because on another thread another person told me that the stock alternator was a 90 amp. He/she also said that the more amp the better. How could i check to be 100% positive? And what is the amp that is in your alternator, since you have a 1st gen TSI aswell.

The stock is 70 amps, except for the Canadian model which is 90 amps. I went to the 90 amp in my car. Just make sure you change the fuse next to the battery to correspond with the amperage of your alternator.

so if i get a 75 amp could i just keep the stok fuse? and if i do get a 70 amp then im fine right?

Actually i believe Stock alternators are 75 amps (confirmed my MachV.com) for 1g's and you will be fine. You will only have to upgrade the fuse if u use the 90amp (canadian) alternator.

Thank you everyone for your comments and support. You wouldn't believe it... turned out my alternator was fin and giving out good amp (14.39 volts). Turned out that my alternator belt was like dead, and also when i pulled up to the shop, it was completely missing! But the mystery thing is that when i got it checked at a gas station, this man told me it was bad. He didnt tell me anything about the belt missing or anything. Do you think that since the belt was bad it could of caused the alternator to give a low voltage number? Was it just the belt?

Yeah i had a loose belt do the same thing to me once. It was really loose and wouldnt turn the alternator and make it seem like it was going bad and the belt shredded off soon after that. Long as u take the car to autozone or somewhere to get the charging system tested, and it passes....you should be fine.

Yeah bro. I just did that. Thanks man. Do you have any other suggestions for me since this is my first talon? Like are there specific things i should check and stuff?
