Alternator arcing and rpm drop?

At night I can see my alternator arcing to the body of the car. When it does, it car makes a whooooo sound and my rpms will drop. Soemtimes my dash lights will flicker(very dim). Is this a sign that my alternator is going bad? I know it could be a ground, if so, where should I look?

maybe i would take to a auto store and check it out, just check all wires ony a connector, and the alt fuse wire.

Stop driving the car now. Take the alternator out and have it checked out at the store.

Check all your wiring and grounds.

Will do. Seems like its charging tho, but I'll still get it checked. If it checks ok is there any spots that I would check first as far as the wiring goes?
