almost got the gsx on the road... 2 questions...

i have a 92 gsx....

do i need to use a heat shield???

and

i upgraded from a 13g to a 14b but the 14b didnt come with the wastegate... the 13g fits perfect, can i use the 13g wastegate on the 14b turbo???

If the wg fits then yes you can use it. You can run it with out the heat shield but I would recomend you get one later on because it helps maintain temps somewhat low under the hood, and you won't toast wires like I did for not putting one.

Yep i found one, i run it with mine, both top and bottom. Save those wires, ,and possibly the altenator.

The 13g and 14b wastegate actuators have different parts numbers in CAPS, MD172937 and MD172934, respectively. I have no clue what the differences would be, if any aside from the number. maybe spring weight? It should work though, might even be what you should be using with the 14b in an automatic.

+1 on the heatshields. I bought my car with only the lower installed, currently borrowing a nasty-looking one from another car until I can get a nice new shiny one. Would really like to get one by JMF, but they're so expensive! The 2G OEM version with the funny warning stamp is tempting too, though I'm not completely sure it is a direct replacement. I assume it would be, but we all know what assuming does.

Regardless, run both shields. Save your O2 sensor wires from getting fried, as well as your alternator.
