I've mostly been spraying my alch right before the TB elbo (for good atomization etc..) but i was thinking of adding an injection point before the intercooler (spraying through a lot smaller nozzle) seems like this would partialy coat the inside fins of the IC & help the cooling process (or just instantly evaporate, also helping the cooling proccess)

so basicaly i'd be spraying in two places, one b4 the FMIC (RIGHT before..) and one at the Throttle body..

anyone have any opinions on this idea? anyone tryed it?

Well I also use Alky, but what do you mean by before the intercooler? You mean like an N2O sprayer, right into the intercooler front? Or in the intercooler piping right after the intercooler? I don't think the benefits would be do great, the distance to the motor is a lot bigger, and the cooling properties on the intercooler probably wouldn't be too great either unless a large amount of alcohol were sprayed on it, then you must worry about the alcohol mist hitting any hot part of the motor since it is flammable. But I'd just want to clarify where you want to spray the intercooler before I write everything off, so help me get a better picture.

ahh crap, i didnt even think about my MAFT,. good point

and i don't have a small IC either so i guess there's no point,.. but my kit came with a bung for nitrous right before the FMIC & i figured maybe i could use alch for it (yah, it was back when i had a plan to cool the IC with a 50 dry shot of n20,.. but that doesn't seem to be effiecent either)

well there goes another idea..

LOL thanks.

I'm a GM tech for a living. I don't think a small amount of alcohol in a fine mist will hurt the maf. We clean them with alot harsher stuff regularly.

As for the locations, I read at a couple of professional sites on this before I drilled and tapped my IC pipes.

Now, most people put thier nozzle in the throttle body elbow, but this is apparently not the best way to do it.

See its so close to the intake valves that the alcohol doesn't have enough time to cool the charge air. It will cool it, but it will do better if its farther away. The charge air is travelling very fast at thist point.

Ideally the nozzle should be placed around 2 feet from the intake valves. I put mine about 8" up the IC pipe from the intercooler outlet. (FMIC, short route)

I can understand that for straight alky, but for a 50/50 the water is mainly for detination and the alky is a bonus. And you want it close to the TB.

Oh and I just don't want to go throwing anything but air in front of the MAS sensors for fear of FUBARing it or altering the readings under WOT. Just don't think it will like that under 20psi.

You do not want to inject before the IC for several reasons.

#1) the amount of heat removed by the IC depends on the difference between the charge temp and the IC's temp. Lowering the charge temp reduces the amount of heat removed. In contrast, the injected fluid removes a fixed amount of heat no matter where it is injected, with water removing much more heat than methanol.

#2a) if you still have a recirculating CBV, mist and droplets will recirculate when you shift and damage the compressor blades.

#2b) if you have a blow-through MAFT, anything you inject before it will alter the signal.

In general, the best place to inject is in the TB elbow.

I haven't personally done this but just leave your stuff the way it is now.
