Airbag question

I don't post here much at all, but I have a general question about airbags in the 2004 style eclipses, and I'm at work and don't have time to search, so please don't kill me, k?

Do you guys know what speed airbags in the 2004 style Eclipse deply at? Some guy hit my grandpa's car... it was a square on collision by the eclipse into the rear, right of the car my grandpa was driving...

Hm- I don't think it's a matter of the model nor car, but a Federal spec about vehicle speed, G-force of the impact, direction of the impact (straight head-on being the most sensitive, if I'm not mistaken) and "other" factors.
