air filter cover

Is it better to leave the cover on or cut it off inside the engine bay. I have a k&n filter i just recently installed but i noticed that most of yah cut off the cover. I understand that it helps the filter breathe better but it would suck mostly hot air right? I'm not really sure just need some insight.

Cut off the portion facing where the horn is. That way you won't be pulling in air directly from the engine. Also, remove the milkjug from under that hole near the horn coming out of your air can. The milkjug is in the same place the stock intercooler is located.

Sorry Defiant, I filled it now. Thanks for the reply I'll check it out. What did you use to cut the can with?

A Dremel with a cutoff wheel will do it, an air (or electric, $20 at Harbor) grinder cutoff wheel's better, or they make a "nibbler" that has a single jaw between two blades that can deal with it.
