agp 50 trim vs agp 57 trim. i just wanted to know the difference between these turbos. is one any better than the other. and also do they support about the same amount of hp's. i know the 50 trim makes great power on pump gas. my friend told me to get the 57 trim over the 50 trim and i just wanted see if it would be worth it. i would like to hit around 380 to 400 hp. i have the supporting mods already. thanx for any help you can give me.

the 50 trim will be just fine for what you want, im sure with the right supporting mods you could hit that much hp on pump gas. if your even thinking of the 57 trim just dont waste your time and just got 60-1. the wheel from the 50 to 57 is just that little of a change and just not worth it.

The 50 trim will be just fine for your goals.

You friend is a lame internet jockey. No one says "get this one its better" and leaves it at that. If he was truly a knowlegable person he would give you good reasons as to why it was better.

I was wondering the same thing. I was planning on ordering the AGP kit within a month or so. If the 57 trim was similar than I'd rather save a hundred bucks. But theres not much feedback on the 57 trim. Anytime you ask you just get the standard" Well the 50 trim is the best for pump gas". I found a couple guys on Dsmtalk with the 57 trim. One was a first gen that dyno'd over 400 at the wheels on pump gas. Another was a second gen with just minor bolt ons that ran a 12.2 et. I think Im going to go for it. Anyone out there have a 57 trim?

Yup I have an AGP 57 trim, Personally I love it and I am debating about going to a full garrett 60-1 kit, but my setup right now is the 57 trim turbo, Victory performance O2 housing, tial 38mm wastegate, stock ported manifold, but I have a built 6 bolt motor waiting to be put in so I have a Evo 3 manifold b/c it was given to me brand new so why not use it. ANy other questions?

This all depends on your goals. You can make those numbers with a variety of turbos and setups. Find out what YOU want to accomplish, not your friends or the guy next to you, and call up AGP and tell them those goals. They will give you the best advice and let you know the best products to attain those goals.

Pump gas turbo's (the 50 trim) are very popular because a hand full of people run race gas alot or on a normal basis. It is not as easy as just tunning then tossing in a few gallons of race fuel and turning up the boost. Most people dont want to hassle with all the changes need to run race gas so they just cruise with pump.

Unfortunatly I have no dyno numbers or track times. Right after I put that turbo set up in I got rid of my afc and got dsmlink and I had a bunch of issues with it. Then my tranny blew up on me and I just recenlty rebuilt it, and my 6 bolt is done so I have to put that in so I have been pretty busy. A shop actually just opened up here and they have the only all wheel drive dyno on Long Island, and probably New York. Its 10 minutes form my house but theres one problem LOL. The first pull they did on the dyno was an SRT-4 and it was not strapped down correctly and it flew off the dyno into the wall. SO I dunno man and the guy had already signed the waiver so the shop was not responsible for paying for any damages. Point being I am kinda hesitant on bringing it there. Soon as I get the 6 bolt in though I haveta bring to be dyno tuned. I did mess around on a GTEC though I do not know how accuarte they are. If I rember correctly it was right before my tranny blew up How accurate are those things?

if actually set up properly i heard the GTEC and the sort will be fairly accurate (not precisely, but it'll give you a pretty good idea)

edit: GTEC not g-tech

That must hurt a shops reputation when there first customer on the dyno flies into the wall LOL. Ya I dont know if I'd want to go there either.

Yea it would definitly hurt the reputation in my eyes, but people still actually do go there. In fact he always has someone on that dyno. I would say just get the 57 trim, you'll like it. I mean I am def. happy with it but it all depends upon what you want.
