I think I saw that on the Fast and the Furious. It looks good. I likes it. :thumb:

is it suede covered?
if so, don't expect it to look new for very long. suede wears in after about a month and the grip areas of the wheel will look shiny. i personally don't mind it (i use a momo mod31 on my MR2), but i know a lot of people seem to expect it to look new forever. just don't want you to be disappointed..

Yea i have a bad feeling that if i buy it I will be buying the brand name is anything. I bought it mainly for the buttons that it has (purge and activation of nitrous)

Not my style, especially if it's going to be a daily driver.

Just curious...
What are the advantages / disadvantages of having a wheel with flat spots?

so fat americans can fit into small japanese cars.

I almost bought a D-shaped wheel years ago. I was a little concerned about practicality on a daily driver and I didn't know anyone who had used one.

ya know, with a drill and a couple push buttons from radio shack you could have a similar setup for ~$50 (minus the hub of course). if you can live without the name, there are nice, cheap wheels too.. momo/sparco is nice but i like my cheap wheel as much as i like my momo (even more when i factor in the price)..

got an elevo wheel for $30 off ebay. it's 320mm (better leg clearance) and it's just aluminum- easy to drill.

is the elevo street legal without the air bag, how hard is changing the wheel?

street legal? not bloody likely. the install is clean enough though that it's not immediately noticeable. i've had motorhead friends in my car and they didn't notice the wheel until i pointed it out. i doubt a cop would have much better luck spotting it unless he was looking for it.

as for ease, it's cake. 4 10mm bolts behind the airbag remove that, a 17mm on the column to hold the wheel on (just rock the wheel back and forth and it'll come off. no puller necessary). 3 phillips head screws hold the column cover on. remove that and reach back on the top left and unplug the airbag (red plug with a green clip lock on it). remove the clockspring (4 philips head).

if you don't want your horn, just put the hub on, put the wheel on the hub and go.

if you do want a horn, get a piece of thin brass strip from the hardware store. bend it to act like a brush on the contact ring on the back of the hub. then get a 4" piece of wire and crimp an eyelet onto one end. apply solder to the other end (just a little) and shape the soldered end so that it fits into the clockspring plug in the horn wire location (it's a green wire IIRC). screw the eyelet and brass brush/strip onto the column in the lower left clockspring screwhole position and move it so that it contacts the brass contact ring on the back of the hub. assamble, plug the horn button in. your horn now works.

refer to other aftermarket steering wheel threads for relocation of the cruise.. it's all easy. took me about half an hour (not including the time necessary to take the cruise unit apart and resolder the pad that came off when i was modifying it).

to turn the airbag light off, just remove the center console and pull the big plug on the airbag ECU.

It is legal for the owner to disconnect the airbag but Federal law prohibits
any manufacturer, distributor, dealer, or repair shop from disconnecting
the air bag systems.

Since we're on the subject...

This is almost funny in a sick sort of way.

Drivers who grip the steering wheel in the traditional 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock positions risk having their arms broken by a deploying airbag. Instructors now promote 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock hand positions as a precaution. While some drivers like to hold the steering wheel with one hand at the 12 o’clock position, a deploying airbag not only will make the motorist punch himself in the face, but it will severely fracture that arm. Imagine what may happen to someone smoking a pipe or eating a LOLlipop..

...until you imagine it happening to you.

Quote from a law office site.

i am also not a fan of air bags. thats why i drive a 90. no airbags and chopped up front bumper support baby.

iam thinking maybe something different for myself..

some of you might not like it but i dont care iam getting it anyways... :thumb:

i had my hands at 11 and 1 and my face right on the airbag after bottoming out in my impreza .. the airbag smacked me right in the face.. hit so hard i didnt know what happened. my chin hurt but didnt break my arms. in fact my arms didnt even get hurt.. maybe just a myth? my face was literally 3 inches away from the bag when it came out.
