Ok I dont think there is another section for this so Im going to post it here. If it belongs somewhere else, please move it. Anyway this is for a 1G. I already cut the premade harness off but took notice to the fact that odd combinations of wires were paired together. Not the usual white/red wire(+) and white/black(-) wire type deal. SO my problem is finding out which ones I pair together. While fumbling around I found some wierd combo that did work for one speaker. I took the positive purple wire from the head unit to I think a positive wire from the car. Then I found that just two off the wall color wires had to be paired together from the car, not going to anything on the headunit. For some odd reason, the negative purple wire from the head unit didnt have to be used to make the speaker work. Never ran into this. So Im assuming the only thing that will be able to help me is some sort of diagram so Im hoping someone can provide me with that. Hope someone can help!!! This is getting frustrating cuz it's not like any other head unit Ive installed before in my cars that were always straightforward on how to hook them up. Thanks in advance for the help. :thumb:

If you go to your local auto parts place, get one of the Eagle Talon/Eclipse/Laser maintenance guides... it has a wireing diagram in the back that'll tell you where each wire goes. Or your nearest Dodge dealer... they have a little more in depth book on it.

It would have saved you time and trouble if you have left the factory connector on and picked up the adapter to connector to your HU. I hate people who hack the wiring up.

Here's the colors for the speakers. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187958

Awesome....thanks. Hope it works out when I look at it tomorrow. Sorry I hack wiring up though. Im just a guy who will cut corners anyway I can to save money especially with something as simple as a headunit. When it comes to engines and such, well no need to cut corners there. But you're a DSM guy so you should know how that is. Plus the car still only has 69k miles on it, so I plan to keep it for a good many years to come. So the chances of you getting my hacked up wiring in the back of my head unit are next to none. ;) 8) Thanks again for the info.

Which kind of goes out the window when the magic smoke leaks out of the head unit the first time you turn the key.
especially with something as simple as a headunit.
I'm not sure you should be calling a head unit simple.
Stereo harness colors have been standardized across manufacturers since the early nineties. There are multiple posts, including in the Technical forum, describing them on this board.
