Does anybody here know how aftermarket gauge faces are created? I'm assuming they're scanning the stock faces into a computer and then doing it from there, but I'm at a loss as to what they're transferring it to and how after they do that.
Input appreciated.

I would also like to know how they do it. I've made some on my computer that I would like to put in the car but Im not sure how I would go about printing it on something to install in the car.

I haven't found any information whatsoever about DSM gauge faces, but apparently the GM gauges are some sort of polycarbonate with a vinyl cover - they're peeling the vinyl off and replacing it.

why dont you email the company and ask them? I think it is the best way to find out how the product is made.

you guys should contact speedhut.com. They will print your designs on faces for your gauges, and now they also offer thier own in house gauges ie. boost, oil press, egt, ect... so you can get your factory cluster and your gauges in your piller pod or wherever all matching.

Just a thought.

Good to know, but I'm more interested in the how for the sake of knowing rather than having something done. I doubt any company that does that would just tell anyone how it's done or there'd be more information readily available I would think.

yea, I thought you were asking for a way to get your design put on gauges...

Maybe try a search for "electro luminescence" Bacic theory and application. should be able to get the basics of the lighting, and then putting your design ona transparancy to put over the EL face you make..... Or get one that nas NO numbers, just maybe small dots or something, get access to a good laserjet printer and print out a transparancy of your design. kinda ghetto but might be worth a try. Kinkos would be a good place to try for the printing if you dont have access to one your self.
