In order to avoid welding in a bung hole, can i mount an AEM UEGO wideband in the stock rear o2 sensor location and either:

a. use the output off the controller and wire into the ecu to emulate the stock narrowband. Can a Uego do this. Is this the same way it is hooked up to log using ECM link (dont have ECM link yet).

b. Do the "O2 Sensor Bypass" described in O2 sensor bypass

should i just weld in a bung?

Note, i do have a testpipe so there will be no cats to skew the data.

You should just weld in a bung, but people have used WB02 in the stock front o2 bung with NB02 simulation. The main complaint is NB02 sim is slower than a real NB02, which can affect your cruise/idle. Another concern is the heat, though no one's actually reported one failing due to heat yet that I've read.

yeah im pretty sure i dont want to use the front location. Definately not the 36inchs away ROFL

I run one in my o2 housing right off the turbo with no problem. I've even had the same one in there for the last 5 years. I've only put about 10k miles on it in that time, but I am running race gas and they say that's supposed to reduce the sensors life.:idontknow:

Wait, whut? Its usually heat that kills them.

In the case of race gas it's the fact that it's leaded. Heat is the reason most manufacturers recommend placing the sensor 36" downstream, it's unrelated to race gas.

Further away from the exhaust ports the less accurate it becomes. Closer is better and you will not kill the sensor due to heat. These Bosch sensors come FACTORY on many vehicles. If you can place it up front then that is where it would be best located.
