Going to be putting a uego in my car soon and just wondering how safe it is to mount the connector from the sensor to the gauge underneath the car as shown in this pic? The tutorial on the site shows it done this way and I just want to see if anyone else has done it like this? I am kinda worried that water could spash up and short something out in the connector.

I think it will be fine as long as it is not mounted below the body rail line.

Edit: Sweet rhyme!

36" from the turbo, not "closer for better results" :nono: Just tie up the wires as tight out of the way as you can, so they won't catch on anything. And try to keep them away from the heat as much as possible so they don't get crispy over time.

So lets say I wanted to run the plug up through the hole where the original rear o2 sensor wires run (through the floorboard, under the driverseat)... would it fit or would I have to cut the hole bigger?

Thanks for the replies

I remember having to slightly enlarge the hole, but not much.

Did you used to have a 2g? The reason I ask is because your 1g didn't come with a rear o2 sensor so I don't know how you could make that statement.

There is a hole near where my rear seats used to be(not sure if 2g's have it). I am assuming there was supposed to be a rubber plug to block it off or something but there wasn't. That is where I ran mine through and the connector wouldn't fit throught that.

I insatlled mine a couple days ago and it fit right through the hole. and if you are going to place the sensor where your rear o2 is make sure you don't have a cat other wise you won't get accurate readings..

I wouldn't mount it there.. I mounted mine there and it got ripped off and ruined.

It will fit through that hole. Barely. You do have to take gray clip off the connector to get it through.

don't worry abouth the harness. you could submerge it in water and it would still be fine.

As for the mounting location. The further back you mount it in the exhaust stream, the more lagtime there will be(between when you hit the throttle... and the when changes are reflected in the wideband readout)

I mounted mine about 3" after the flex in the downpipe.
I've been on the same probe for about a year, driven every day.

Another bad thing about moving it too far back is you have a greater chance of it being off from an exhaust leak. Since it will be farther back obviously there will be more spots in front of it that could develop an exhaust leak and throw it off.
