Just picked up an AEM UEGO (gauge controller), and can hardly wait for the new exhaust before I put it on.
Fairly sure I understand how this works, but as I've received conflicting advice from certain friends, figured that I should check here before starting in on any harness cutting.

1.) You DO wire the power to the accessory line, right? Friend said to run the power straight back to the battery, and leave it always-on. Seems like it'd shorten battery/sensor life, and having the display on (even just displaying - - -) would be a thief-attractor.

2.) Is there a way to use it to watch EGT? Should I grab a pyrometer as well, or just rely on AFR to expect that the exhaust temps will stay down? Didn't mention it in the manual, but hey. No harm in asking.

3.) I plan to also grab DSMLink. Is there any way to wire up the 0v-5v output from the UEGO to the ECU for logging purposes? From what I've found searching, 2Gs apparently have a problem reading values over 1v, but references were made that 1G ECUs were different in that regard. Short version, I'd prefer to just use one cable to handle it all, rather than dicking around with trying to keep two serial feeds in sync on the logs for later review. ;)

As where to get the power source for the gauge, you just need get the power form pretty much any where that has power with the key in the on position for instance if you have power windows they only work with the key in the on position as well as power mirrors. Any chassis ground will work as well just make sure it's on bare metal.

Your egt temp should be good if you A/F is 11.0-12.0. The theory behind it is the more fuel you put in the cooler the egt will be. You can tune off of either one just make sure the egt probe is before the turbo.

The UGEO also has the serial output as well I don't know if either will work for you though sorry

Well, that's one down. I believe my turbo timer harness has extra 'accessory power' lines, I'll likely either tap that or the heater fuse, given that the fusebox is right there.

I'll have to double-check, always thought that 14.7 was optimal air/fuel. I may just get the EGT for extra safety, and get the exhaust manifold tapped on runner 1... probably just hit up RRE since they're fairly local.

Guess that I'll find out about feeding DSMLink the 0v-5v once I've got it and can access their product-specific forums, unless anyone else has it and has done a similar setup successfully on a 1G.

You can log a UEGO using DSMlink. The analog output wire of the UEGO can be wired into the EGR input of the ecu. If you are using a MAF-T, you can also use the baro and IAT inputs of the ecu for logging other items.

Im currently logging my UEGO with my Baro input and have a 3 bar MAP being logged on my EGR input.
