just picked up a 95 tsi awd im gettin the preventative maintnence done (fluids, belts, etc.) after thats all taken care of what should i do to it? its my dd so i need to keep some sort of gas mileage

If your worried about gas mileage sell it and get something you can afford to put gas in. If you want to keep the car I would suggest a beater that gets good MPG for what you should do after maint.

Aside from what everyone says I don't think they get bad mileage. At the same time I'm coming from a Jeep Cherokee though. I don't see anything wrong with having a built DD. Depending on tune you can have good power and decent mileage.

When you say belts your doing a timing belt to right?

sounds like you're worried about the cost of gas since you want to get the best mileage possible. get the preventive maintenance done and keep it stock. you should do fine if you keep things stock.

My stock 1g was getting 20ish on premium. My stock 2g was getting 30-32 on premium. The SC1 I was using as a DD was getting 44 combined city/highway and around 50 on highway trips and it ran like shit on premium. I could put down dollar shitty off brand gas in it and it was perfectly happy.

Right now I would be happy with a nice truck that got around 25 MPG. I just don't see a built dsm running good MPG unless your running at least 8.8:1 or better. You might get mid thirties with a good tune.

Boost gauge and boost controller. Run up to about 15lbs on stock turbo. Maybe like a high-flow cone filter for the intake. Open up the exhaust.

I get about 25-30 mpgs depending on how I drive.

well if mileage is no concern, throw a built 2.3 6 bolt in it, built tranny, huge injectors, tuning device, and the biggest turbo you can find.

Is it a 5 speed? keep it in the highest gear possible and under 3k rpm, don't speed and don't use the turbo you will be amazed. and you won't have any fun either

Follow the tech guide but if you want to get better gas mileage now, get a logger and a SAFC OR ECMLink depending on future goals. You'll be able to lean out your fuel so you aren't wasting gas. If you get ECMLink then you'll be able to add timing as well to help you to get up and go quicker.

Make sure you fix all of your boost leaks as well.

Thank u ktgurl thats what i mean..im puttin a 16g in soon ### the stock turbo is goin out. my plans right now are the turbo, intake, short shift, a cat back and maybe a FMIC if i can find a decent price.

Sounds like you want the same thing I want.

Keep a look out in the next few months for my update profile once my build is done.

Mileage is pretty avg for a 2.0 turbo.. best fuel saver is your foot.

I drive a s2 in the summer and I see 18MPG city.. so, a stock 2G is well more than that.. well at least 3-4mpg...

Like on suggested look at the Tech guide and follow the guide, Maintenance before anything.

Use proper spelling and grammar!

Concentrate on fuel mods and tuning before the intake and short shifter. If you put the 16g on before those, keep the boost at stock wastegate pressure and don't forget to port the wastegate inlet so you help prevent boost creep. I had to when I got one as at that time it was my replacement for my blown T25.

Search the classifieds for parts and the reason why I say no intake is there are so many versions and types out there and I'm sure you don't want to spend money multiple times on the same part. It took me 3 years or so to get a new intake because I wasn't sure the route I was going. I'm done with my turbo setup which has a 4" inlet so I opted to go with a 4" tube to maximize performance.

If you are going bigger down the road or are unsure and you must have a new intake, look into the company ChromeIntakes on eBay and you can read the reviews on the forum as well.
