I havent found a solution to my squeeling belt I posted a thread earlier about the death squeel so im just going to try to replace the alternator. I have a 4600 watt system and figured getting a high output alternator would probably be best. I was wondering if anyone has messed around with these and or if they are plug and play or do i need to do any drilling or moving around, ect. Any advice works, im looking to get a fairly cheap yet efficient alternator.

Contact AlterStart for one of their Load Boss units. Pricey, but worth it. Been running the same one since late 2008 in multiple DSMs. They have several that they do not advertise, ask about what options they have. Mine is a 150A bolt-on replacement for the 1G and provides steady output even with all the equipment I run.

Sorry to bring the thread back, but that is what I have chosen, the 170amp load boss. I have a 1999 gsx 2.0, I took out the alternator and the new one came it only to see that it is different. The one i recieved has a 2 prong connector and smaller mounting bracket, I called and they kept arguing with me that my car is a 2.4 so they sent me the 2.4 version I guess... My mom has the same car just a 97 GSX and its a 4 prong also, Im wondering if they realized they messed up and are trying to get out of paying for shipping... Wasnt a complete loss though took out the alternator, put the same one in and no more squeel! Hopefully the new one has a 4 prong connector and is a direct bolt...

Yea I have been running a lifetime high out put alternator direct plug in and it's been doing me fine for quite some time now. :thumb: And if the belt keeps becoming loose then the belt it's self might be bad and stretched or the tensioner is not working properly.
