Is adding oil to a cylinder,a good way to check for bad rings? The head is off the car. I thought by adding some oil to each cylinder and check it in a day or so to see if the oil goes past the rings. Compression test come back low numbers and a wet test really didn't help much. The block has no ring groove and cylinder walls looks good. I just would like to make sure before tearing apart block if I don"t have to. The head gasket looked ok, but I may look at it better. It's a cometic if it makes a difference.

Yea, thanks I've done the compression test and leakdown test,bu tI want to make sure. Never hurts for extra security... Should there be a little bit that goes by?If so how much is too much?

I tried the oil thing. 1-3 cylinder lost 1/8 of oil and 4th cylinder lost 1/2 of oil in 50 hours. It has been cold outside, but I think I might have a headgasket or head problem. The compression test showed that 1 and 4 cylinder was off by 5 psi yet cylinder 4 leaked more oil. Any ideas?????
