Hi,

I am rebuild an Eclipse GST 95, with a new Eagle Forged Crankshaft (7 bolt) 88mm and the ACL Race tri metal rod bearing in STD size (4B1185H-STD)

The page: ACL Race Series - Mitsubishi 4G63, 4G63 Turbo, 4G64 Performance Engine Bearings

So the rod bearing clearance is not matching under the 0.0008-0.0020 (std limit).... I am getting 0.0023 in the ACL Race tri metal rod bearing!

This car is my daily driver and i think this clearance may not be a good ideia. The Acl race tri metal Main Bearing fitted in the clearence, can i use a STD King rod Bearing without problems or i can use the ACL race Rod Bearing?
Any suggestion?

Looks like this is an old post, so apologies if this is a moot point. However, the information is good at any rate.

For hydrodynamic lubrication (like what you seen in crank and rod bearings), a good rule of thumb for radial clearance is between 0.008 - 0.020 mm (0.0003 - 0.0008 in) (Juvinal et. al). DISCLAIMER: These values make some assumptions about about machined surface finish, roundness, parallelism, and lubricant viscosity at target operating temperature. However, it's still a good general rule of thumb. If you see recommendations far outside these ranges, you ought to atleast ask the manufacturer why.

Hope this helps.
