ac way past danger

Dude Ok. I just bought a 95 Talon tsi..ac does not work. I tried to fill it last night and it didnt work so I figured I would try again today but I bought a ac pressure gauge this time. I turned the car on and turned the ac on max and hooked the guage up without the r134 to check the pressure and it read really low in the green. It was so low that the compressor would not come on. So I hooked up the r134 to the end and screwed it down to pop the hole and fill it up. BUt what happened was when the compressor got some pressure from it filling up the clutch engaged and the compressor was on now. BUT.. there was so much pressure when it turned on that it throttle the guage way past the danger zone as far as it could and the guage busted and now it does not work. Must have had 2-300 psi because it floored that guage and I was freeking out like it was going to blow up. The hoses connected to the gauge seem to be all streched out or something.
Then after I gave up on the opposite side where the battery is I heard something leaking but didn't think that it could be the ac could it? does the lines run over to the passenger side under the battery?

Any ideas? I called Midas and they said that air in the lines could cause this and to do the ac correctly it has to be hooked up to a 15,000 dollar machine. I call B.S. because I refilled my other 2 cars just fine not even a month ago. Has anyone ever had this problem? Could the ac possible be hooked up backwards. Have the high and low reversed?

Ohh and also the AC blows no cool air at all.

Did you try SLOWLY bleeding off the pressure with the same hose? Different gauge?

Take it to an AC shop while you still have two hands to steer with. You have no idea what you are doing.

I agree with defiant. When I had to reach down the back side of the engine with my face that close to the bottle and hose to unattach it, it was a little nerve racking. You would think I hooked it up to the high side but that is impossible becasue that adapter will not even fit and the pressure before I hooked up the line was so low it would not engage the clutch. Ohh Well.

Does anyone know a place open on Sundays that may be located in Phoenix as well???
