Thunder Bay,
This is a very strange problem I've never heard of anyone having before. I've never driven my Talon in the snow until today, we had an unexpected snow storm. Coming home from work I was messing around in a parking lot, and I tried pulling the E-brake to start a drift, but as soon as my wheels locked up and I started sliding, the engine stalled. Later, coming to a stop sign, I hit the brake pedal and started sliding towards it by accident, and the engine stalled again. I tested this a few more times, and it seems like it will happen every time I lock the wheels no matter what. I wasn't even sure if 90 Talons had ABS brakes, but I suppose it does, and whenever it kicks in something goes wrong to make it stall? Has anyone ever heard of this or have an idea to waht could be causing this?

There is a small motor in the abs unit. Anyway, connected to the battery there is a small fuse box with three fuses in it and one is for the abs. remove that fuse and try to slide again. If the car still stalls out then it has to be some kind of wiring problem. If not, the it is probably the abs motor itself.

You have to take it out of gear ROFL

Just kidding. I have no ideas. I had different ABS issues and resolved them temporarily by yanking the fuse.

my talon does the same thing. sometimes when I hit a bump while holding the brakes the rpms go up. Its just the motor, mine never makes the engine stall though, just pulls the idle down really low.

will it do it while you are in neutral? or does it only do it while you are in gear with the clutch in.. if it only does it while its in gear and the clutch is in it sounds like a mechanical stall.. opposed to being cause by an electrical problem
how is your clutch.. is it newer? bled it recently?

Makes perfect sense. If you're not hitting the clutch when you lock the wheels, then yeah, its going to stall. Welcome to AWD.

Also I don't think 90's even had the option for ABS, but I could be mistaken.

BTW if you want to do slides in a snowy parking lot, all you have to do is press the gas and turn. No ebrake required :thumb:

Me or him? My problem is an off center ABS plate on my DS front hub. Nothing to do with the clutch. ABS just goes off at the wrong time.

Ahh, to think that just yesterday this ABS problem was my biggest issue with my car. Today I happened to crash hard into a curb, and I don't even know what I messed up. My alignment was always a little off, but after hitting the curb its WAYYYYYYYY off. When I take an onramp onto the expressway I can just take my hand off the wheel and let it "autoturn". Also, it looks like the tire that hit the curb (front passenger side) is angled inwards towards the car, like the top of the tire is angled out more and the bottom is angled in if you look at it.
